Thank you for your uploads
[edit]Thank you for your uploads related to MediaWiki: we don't often see usability videos like File:Link context item (mobile VE).gif (although the resolution of the GIF is a bit lacking). It would be better if you used categories: even a generic one like Category:MediaWiki is better than nothing. I understand this may be hard with cross-wiki uploads, which have a rather unfriendly interface; you may want to use Special:UploadWizard instead. Nemo 08:42, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- This is timely and helpful...thank you for writing as clearly as you have, Nemo ^ _ ^
- I've done – what I think – is necessary to add Category:MediaWiki (see this edit). I'll have categories in mind as I make uploads to Commons in the future. Oh, and as for the quality of that gif, I know...not ideal :/ Is there a particular .MP4 to .GIF converter you've had success with? I've been using Giphy's gifmaker. - Thank you. When you have time you can browse the subcategories of Category:MediaWiki to see which ones are a better fit, if any.
- I don't often create GIFs but I think I managed in the past with one of imagemagick, mencoder or ffmpeg (I usually just try them all to see if they give a good result with default settings). If your source is an MP4, though, maybe it's easier to try OGV or WebM with something at Help:Converting video? Nemo 15:53, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
