Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons:License questions. |

Please add more information
[edit]Hello and Welcome! When you upload images, I hope that you will add them with more information. Especially with old images, it's important to add a date (or year) when the photograph was taken and who took the photo. Source of the image is also an important piece of information. You can use the {{Information}} template that is on the upload page. Samulili 11:32, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm using that template on all my photos... but anyway thanks for the info ;) Alan.Z 01:36, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- My mistake. When I checked your contributions for some images, I didn't notice that you had added and fixed categories to images someone else had uploaded. That, I want to say, is good work! -Samulili 08:10, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Alerting to a potential violation of your copyrighted work
[edit]Hello Alan,
I noticed a photo on the website of a news organization that had the attribution "Photo courtesy of Wikipedia", which is highly suspicious. I tracked the original source to your account and found that you had licensed it as cc-2.5-sa. Since the page is neither providing proper attribution, nor licensing the modified work, I though I'd let you know of the potential violation in case you wanted to contact them.
