Summary

[edit]
Description At Haridwar, the Ganga leaves the mountains and enters the plain. Here, the river is quite cold and (relatively) clean. Pilgrims hold on to chains strung along the bank to avoid being swept away by the strong current. The swastika, seen here, is an ancient symbol of good luck found all over India.
