Description
Polski: Powstanie warszawskie. Major Sarnow (czwarty od lewej), dowódca niemieckiej jednostki niszczycielskiej (Sprengkommando), wydaje rozkazy swoim podwładnym. Sprengkommandos, złożone z członków tzw. Technische Nothilfe, były w pierwszym rzędzie odpowiedzialne za planowe niszczenie polskiej stolicy po powstaniu 1944 roku. Zdjęcie zostało wykonane przez Alfreda Mensebacha – niemieckiego architekta, volksdeutscha z Leszna, który dokumentował planowe burzenie polskiej stolicy. Album z jego zdjęciami został po wojnie odnaleziony w Lesznie. Oryginalny opis zdjęcia: „Wydawanie rozkazu jednostce wysadzającej”
English: Warsaw Uprising. This photo shows German demolition unit (Sprengkommando) and his commander – major Sarnow (in the middle, fourth from the left). Sprengkommandos, composed of members of the Technische Nothilfe, were primarily responsible for planned destruction of Warsaw after the 1944’ uprising. This photo was taken by Alfred Mensebach – German architect and volksdeutsch from Leszno who documented the planed destruction of Warsaw. His album with the photos from Warsaw Uprising was discovered in Leszno after the war by Polish authorities. Original description of the photo: “Issuing the orders for the Sprengkommando.
