Image Tagging Image:The_world_in_500_CE.PNG
edit
Thanks for uploading Image:The_world_in_500_CE.PNG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. maps
editExcellent world maps you have created! I have added them to Template:Maps of world history.. plenty of gaps in that template still, if you're interested in making more of them --Astrokey44 02:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you. Siebrand 02:09, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

World History Maps and Eastern Hemisphere Maps
editTHANK YOU for making your World History maps! I've also made a series of maps that you can see on my Wikipedia page Talessman. My maps use a different background (I used a topographical map showing mountains and rivers). It seems our maps cover many of the same time periods, which is good because it gives Wikipedians that much more information. Anyway I just wanted to thank you and express my respect for your work. Perhaps we can work together to create a complete series of historical maps. Talessman 01:18, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:15, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Error in Image on Kadesh
edit[File:Battle_of_Kadesh_II.png]Battle of Kadesh II.png contains an error: "Ramses leads his chariots to assault the Egyptian camp" I probably don't need to explain what's wrong with this, amusing as it is. It clearly should say "assist the Egyptian camp" or "assault the Hittites" (as the Italian version seems to).--41.177.4.50 08:23, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Error(s) in Tibetan Empire map
editFile:Tibetan empire greatest extent 780s-790s CE.png appears to have a few mistakes. The most importants one that I notice are probably the location of Ferghana, which is too far SE, and the location of Sogdiana, which is too far NE. Additionally, the locations of Talas and Balasagun are a little off.
Beyond that, it'd be nice to see some more contemporaneous names, e.g. Little and Greater Balur, but not Dzungaria (a much later name). —Firespeaker (talk) 17:35, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

editThis media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:The world in 750 CE.PNG. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
File:Map-of-southeast-asia 900 CE.png
editHi, I have seen that you created the page about this map in Commons. I think it could be refered to one of the phases of maximum expansion of the Khmer Empire, I would say around 1150 CE, after the conquer of the Dvaravati Kingdom of Lavo, that was never conquered by the Khmer before Suryavarman I (1010-1050), and was finally submitted by Suryavarman II (1113-1150). In the year 900 CE, the Khmer Empire was not even 100 years old, and could have hardly got all the dominions shown in your map. I see that the map has been used in mani Wikis as a 900 CE map, so I think it should be better to change the date. Regards Carlo58s (talk) 05:26, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Southeast Asia Map Circa 1750?
editHi- a note of thanks for all your great historical maps. I am making edits to some pages on Laos and Lan Xang and was wondering if you could make another map c.1750? Lan Xang split between 1707-1710 into three kingdoms (and one principality), Burma, Ayutthaya and Lanna were the main kingdoms in the West, Vietnam occupied the east. There are some maps both before and after, but none for this period. I have some references if it would help- you should be able to make some edits to your existing maps of Southeast Asia.StampyElephant (talk) 00:26, 10 February 2015 (UTC)
Question regarding your Seleucid Empire map
editHello,
I have a question regarding this map you created. Do you have any source that confirms that the ceding of Gedrosia by Seleucus Nicator included Iranian Balochistan? Most historians (virtually all historians to put it straight) agree that Balochistan, Pakistan marked the westernmost extent of the newly established western borders of the Mauryan Empire.
Mainstream scholarship asserts that Chandragupta received vast territory west of the Indus, including the Hindu Kush, modern day Afghanistan, and the Balochistan province of Pakistan.[1][2] Archaeologically, concrete indications of Maurya rule, such as the inscriptions of the Edicts of Ashoka, are known as far as Kandhahar in southern Afghanistan.

Thanks for uploading File:Korea Buddhist flag.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Error on All History World Maps
editHi, I want to say upfront thank you! Your maps are great overall and very informative. However there is a persistent error on them: The Aral Sea. It is displayed as its current size on all the historical maps! If you are depicting the world anytime before 1960, it would have been over 68,000 square kilometers instead of the ~10,000 that I have seen on some of your maps. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.158.45.122 (talk) 19:35, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

About your Buddhist sector map
editHello Javier, I noticed that your Buddhist sector map still hasn't included the 4 new Indonesian provinces of Southwest Papua, Central Papua, Highland Papua and South Papua (see New Guinea island on the bottom-right side of the image). Can you please add in the borders of the provinces? I'm not really good at drawing borders.
