Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Ovaj gen kodira alfa lanac kolagena tipa XVI, člana porodice kolagena FACIT (kolageni povezani s fibrilima sa prekinutim spiralama). Članovi ove porodice kolagena u vezi su sa kolagenima koji formiraju vlakna, kao što su tip I i II, i služe za održavanje integriteta vanćelijskog matriksa. Visoki nivoi kolagena tipa XVI pronađeni su u fibroblastima i keratinocitima, te u glatkim mišićima i amnionu.[6]
