Hyoi Pears are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Location and Uses

The Wind Waker

The Hyoi Pear can be stored in the Bait Bag after being purchased from Beedle for the price of only 10 Rupees.

When positioned on the head, it can be used to attract Seagulls.[4][5] A Seagull that then eats the Hyoi Pear will suddenly find itself being controlled by Link (until pressing R or START or Link or the Seagull is attacked). The controlled Seagull can then be used to collect items or hit switches in normally inaccessible places. It is necessary to use this item to get Triforce Chart #2. Link also needs the Hyoi Pear at Forest Haven to get inside the Nintendo Gallery.[6]

Other Appearances

Hyrule Warriors Legends

The following section is not part of the Zelda canon and should not be taken as such.

In Hyrule Warriors Legends, Hyoi Pears appear as Plant-type Foods.[7] They are imbued with the Lightning Element. When consumed by a Companion Fairy in the Dining Room of the My Fairy mode, Hyoi Pears can increase the Fairy's Trust level and personality traits.

Hyoi Pears also appear as Item Cards in the Great Sea and Master Wind Waker Maps in Adventure Mode. Using it on a Seagull will cause the Seagull to find hidden treasure, unlocking a secret Reward.[3]
