The Cooking Class is a recurring event in The Legend of Zelda series.(TotKTears of the Kingdom)[1] The Cooking Class goes unnamed in Breath of the Wild.

Overview

Breath of the Wild

The Cooking Class is hosted by Ashai in her House in Gerudo Town. It takes place during the night, where it is attended by Dina and Pasha. The Class uses Chef Aurie Taamu, Vol. 1 and Chef Aurie Taamu, Vol. 2 as reference materials, the latter of which is too high up for Link to read.[2] If Link examines it while Dina is attending the Cooking Class, she will offer to read it to him.[3] In addition to these, a Poster depicting a Recipe for Clam Chowder can be found on one of the walls nearby.

Originally, Ashai intended to teach her students how to make Creamy Heart Soup, but she has forgotten the heart-shaped vegetable used in the Recipe.[4] When Link speaks to Dina during the Cooking Class, she reveals that the results of her Cooking has often been Dubious Food.[5] She also shares a lesson she learned from Ashai, which is that the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach.[6] If Link approaches Pasha, she talks about the importance of making a homemade meal.[7]

Tears of the Kingdom

Due to the increased demand of "Voe and You" classes, Ashai has stopped teaching the Cooking Class.[8] Despite this, she leaves her House open to the residents of Gerudo Town so they can make use of her Books for Cooking.[8]

  4. Hmm... I was planning on creamy heart soup for the lesson today, but I'm being a bit forgetful, it seems. 5. Sav'saaba! This class is absolutely critical for me! I've tried to cook up some great meals, but I only ever make dubious food... When you're cooking, if you add insects or monster materials, you'll end up with dubious food. Though if you ask me, there's nothing dubious about how absolutely inedible it is... — Dina (Breath of the Wild)

  7. People really crave home cooking... Huh. Rather than designing an elaborate meal, it's sometimes better to make something quick using a few homemade ingredients. Huh... I should really write that down... — Pasha (Tears of the Kingdom)
  8. 8.0 8.1 [Cooking class?] Before the sand shroud settled in, Ashai was teaching a cooking class here. You see, you can get really far in life—and in love—if you have a solid grasp of the essentials of cooking. But she has so many students now that her other class, "Voe and You," takes up all her time. So she's opened up her place for everyone's use. The cookbooks here are really useful too. If you're planning to do any cooking at all, you should definitely give them a read. — Nellie (Tears of the Kingdom)
