The call for workshops is now over.
Call for Workshop Proposals
VLDB 2015 invites submissions for workshop proposals on all topics covered by the conference.
A VLDB workshop is either a half-day or a full-day event, and takes place either on the day before or on the day after the core of the conference (i.e. on Monday 31st August or Friday 4th September). All VLDB 2015 workshops will be “serviced,” meaning that logistics such as registration, catering, room allocation and audio-visual arrangements will be handled by the VLDB conference organizers. The workshop organizers are responsible for defining the technical program and workshop format.
Important Dates
Submission deadline: Friday 16th January 2015. (5pm PST)
Notification: Friday 13th February 2015.
Submission Guidelines
Workshop proposals should be submitted via email to the workshops chair, Norman Paton (npaton@manchester.ac.uk). with “VLDB Workshop Proposal” in the subject line. Workshop organizers with special requirements (e.g., special workshop duration or venue) should contact the workshops chair as soon as possible; such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Workshop proposals must be in pdf, at most five pages in length, and should include, in the following order:
- the workshop title,
- contact information,
- chairs and organizers,
- a technical description of the workshop with its goals,
- a statement on how the workshop complements or relates to other events,
- the workshop format including preferred date and duration,
- a description of the review process including key dates,
- plans for disseminating the results of the workshop (e.g. proceedings details),
- potential or accepted program committee members, and
- potential or accepted speakers or keynotes.
If a proposed workshop has had earlier editions, the workshop proposal should provide historical information about the previous editions of the workshop, including:
- dates, venues and affiliated events,
- numbers of papers submitted and accepted for presentation, and
- numbers of attendees.
The organizers of accepted workshops are required to announce the workshop and call for papers, solicit submissions, conduct the reviewing process, decide upon the final workshop program, and organise the proceedings. Workshop programs must be published at least two weeks before the early registration deadline of the main conference. Publication of calls for papers and participation as well as eventual workshop reports in SIGMOD Record are encouraged.
Proposal evaluation criteria include relevance to VLDB, scientific quality, quality of proposed organization, evidence of interest (e.g., previous submission and attendance counts), and overlap with other proposals.
