Portal not the problem against Louisville.

If you look at the 44 starters on offense and defense for both teams Clemson has more talent based off of the recruiting rankings. Clemson was simply out coached by the Louisville staff. Both of Clemson's coordinators could not make adjustments to help the team. You can make the portal argument for the GA game but not the Louisville game.

SOFT is right. Nick Eason for defensive coordinator. It's time for "grown man" defensive football at Clemson.

The real reason the SEC and Big 10 ARE THE TWO BEST CONFERENCES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS ONE REASON: they are more physical than everyone else. Period.

The offensive game, or lack thereof, was a big problem.
Cade must have looked terrible in practice last week, because we seemed determined to run the ball and eat up clock, even when behind by 19 points. The coaches evidently didn't trust him to throw downfield but repeated asked him to throw 30 yard passes to the sidelines that would result in a 4 yard gain if successful.

It's frustrating when People don't actually discuss the source of the problem. The reason the coaches were throwing all those short passes and running the ball was not because they didn't trust Klubnik. It's because the offensive line was blocking long enough for their routes to develop.

Do we have a special teams coach specifically or is it someone's secondary responsibility?

Florida St. And Louisville are ranked #1 in the nation in kicks blocked thanks to us. Clemson is ranked last in the country in allowing blocked kicks. This cannot be blamed on the snapper, the holder, or the kicker. 100% on the left side of the line. We've had the person playing TE get knocked on his butt four times. The person playing wing did not touch his man on the last block. This is not best is the standard. This is worst is the standard.

Not really ..... NIL combined with it causes a lot of problems, but neither is why we lost this game or why we have slipped in recent years.

Players respond to the mentality of the Head Coach. If he is soft, they"ll be soft. If he's a raging bull, they'll respond to that too.

There is a lot of blame to go around everywhere but it's not just the portal.
Everyone is talking up Pate's comments, and I think there is merit in much of them.
However, he claims we had a "roster advantage" and that we "got dog-walked by a team we have no business getting dog-walked by" (suggesting we have far more talent). I agree with both of those points, and bet everyone here does as well.
At the same time he says THIS SAME game permanently drops this program because Dabo hasn't adjusted/started using the portal. Yet he indicates in the same argument that not using the portal has resulted in us having a higher talent level than the team that beat us down.
That doesn't compute.
Something is very wrong, for sure. But resist the temptation to jump on the big, lazy narrative. Dabo may be the problem but his not using the portal didn't lose this game. This defense was supposed to be stout. In my mind, we lost that game first and foremost because we couldn't stop the run-big play after big play.

portal/NIL is definitely a large part of the problem.........

the case for the portal is actually EASIER in games like Louisville OR Duke OR Miami OR NCstate OR South Carolina
teams that we typically out talent drastically have utilized the portal to close the so-called "talent gap". Not to mention the recruits we lose or don't get interest from b/c we're not willing to open the pocket book for "HS talent" (ie dip in recruiting).............not to mention the 10-12 players we lose each year to the portal and only backfill them w/ young HS talent (mostly less talented than what left), that causes depth and Talent issues.
It's most definitely and has been a LARGE part of the problem............but you continue to believe the crap that Dabo feeds you.

If you aint gonna use the portal, you better be elite at HS recruiting. We do neither. I say do both....why limit yourself and make your margin for error non-existent.

We went from the best DC in the country, probably of the decade - to a guy who is barely qualified to coach D3. Thats a Big problem.
