did anyone feel nervous when they were down in Miami for the game? Not about the game. But your surroundings.

Let's just say it this way, that was 41 years ago and my wife still doesn't want to go back to Miami.

At 10 years old I had the priviledge to take a bus (full of Clemson fans) with my grandmother from Greenville, SC. 14 hours after we left small pine trees bent over with ice there, we got off the bus at our hotel in Miami. It was probably 75 degrees. Checked in and went to the pool. I then understood why she told me to bring a bathing suit. I had gone to my first Tiger game in '76 and all I knew was going out on the field after a game right? Here's where my reply comes from because I told my grandmama I was going out on the field and she tlod me where to meet her in the stadium later and off I went. I won't go into details after that because it is absolutley incredible that I was able to go down a handicap ramp and get out on the field.... Short story long it is amazing to me that at 10 yrs old I could do that because yes even I remember that the Orange Bowl stadium was in the hood...... Go Tigers!!

I paid the parking lot 'attendant' an extra $20 to watch my car. After the game there were 5 folks who had cars stolen out of that lot. So yeah, an uneasy feeling.

No, I had a friend, Miami grad that lived there get tickets for us and he went to the game with us. He directed us to a neighborhood nearby and we parked in a Cuban families yard for $20 iirc. He said they are protective of the cars because they depend on the return business. We had no problems.

We spent the day before the game at South Beach. Hung out with a lot of Nebraska fans, none of whom knew where Clemson was.

We actually stayed an extra day to attend the Chargers/Dolphins playoff game (arguably one of the greatest playoff games in NFL history). We parked at someone's house in a neighborhood in close proximity to the Orange Bowl stadium. As we walked to and from the stadium (wearing Clemson gear), all kinds of people were outside inviting us to join them for food and drinks.

No issues whatsoever during the entire trip.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I felt uncomfortable. Billboards were in Spanish so we stayed in Ft. Lauderdale.. Who remembers the Hari Krishna people marching around with their orange robes on.

Reason I asked is that was around the time of the height

of the cocaine wars in South Florida and Miami was, I believe, easily considered the most dangerous city in America.

Yes. We got there later than I wanted to and parked a pretty bad looking area. One of our group backed out so we were going to sell it. Running late and not feeling safe I ended up with the unused ticket. I have a big problem deciding which one of my 3 Clemson grad children get this ticket. By the way, the original price was $15.
