I've read it all from, "Dabo needs to be fired, to will so and so player enter the portal". Who cares, the real question is this. Would a fanbase sacrifice 5 seasons of their pride to achieve 20-30 years of legendary success? If you want to win a National Title this season and ONLY this season, then the portal is for you. If you want a mere 3 year run for playoff appearances then the portal, NIL, and paying for success is for you. However, if you want a long term run of success long after Coach Swinney has retired then you will trust Coach Swinney in his methods. If I knew Clemson would win the next 15 National Championships and have a losing season for 5 seasons straight, then I would choose that method. It's not about a single season of success. Anyone can have that if they're willing to spend the money, and many fake leaders with knee-jerk reactions will take that route. However, if all goes well for Swinney, then the man who replaces Swinney will have a chance to beat Swinney's record. Therein lies the difference in methods of coaching.

Unless the rules of the college game revert back to what they were, Clemson will become less and less relevant and competitive under Dabo’s system. We simply don’t have the NIL money to get the top high school recruits anymore and aren’t willing to entertain 3rd or 4th year players from other programs who are older, more physically developed and able to help fill the gaps in our lineup. You’re fooling yourself if you think we’ll be able to compete in the new age of college football with our current philosophy.

We simply don’t have the NIL money to get the top high school recruits anymore and aren’t willing to entertain 3rd or 4th year players from other programs who are older, more physically developed and able to help fill the gaps in our lineup. You’re fooling yourself if you think we’ll be able to compete in the new age of college football with our current philosophy.
Clemson has a TOP 3 NIL program. Meaning there are only 2 other schools that can currently compete. Again, NIL is used for retention, not recruiting.

1. We're #17 in NIL.
2. Not using NIL for recruiting is a big part of the problem. We lost 5 commits in the past few days.
3. If we keep stinking it up on the field for the last 4 games, we may have bigger portal losses in December than the 14 we lost after last season.

Don’t really believe on field talent is the problem. We do have depth issues, but that is part of having a younger team. We were not prepared for L’ville and that’s on coaching.

also, if you think that all of a sudden College football/sports is going to magically roll back to the "good ole days" and everything is going to "FIT" on Dabo's moral compass......................you're kidding yourself.
the toothpaste is out of the tube and there's no going back. Tweaks? sure.........but NIL/Portal are here to stay. Dabo is currently FAILING in the new era of College Football.
