Vice-Admiral Edward Astley Astley-Rushton1

     Vice-Admiral Edward Astley Astley-Rushton was born in 1879.1 He was the son of William Lowes Rushton and Sophia Mary Lincoln Gough.1 He married Vera Evelyn Barr, daughter of Sir James Barr, in 1908.1 He died on 18 July 1935, killed in a motor accident.1
     He was given the name of Edward Astley Rushton at birth.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 In 1917 his name was legally changed to Edward Astley Astley-Rushton.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Naval Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V in 1927.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1927.1 He lived at Wenbans, Wadhurst, Sussex, England.1

     Vera Evelyn Barr is the daughter of Sir James Barr.1 She married Vice-Admiral Edward Astley Astley-Rushton, son of William Lowes Rushton and Sophia Mary Lincoln Gough, in 1908.1
     From 1908, her married name became Astley-Rushton.1

     Colonel James Frederic Astley Astley-Rushton was born on 31 July 1911.1 He is the son of Vice-Admiral Edward Astley Astley-Rushton and Vera Evelyn Barr.1 He married Joan Sylvia Southey, daughter of Captain Charles Bonham Southey, in 1946.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 7th Queen's Own Hussars.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He was with the Diplomatic Service in 1963.1
