     Evelyn Emily Wood was the daughter of John Gathorne Wood.2 She married Rt. Hon. Laurence Hardy, son of Sir John Hardy, 1st Bt. and Laura Holbech, on 2 December 1886.1 She died on 27 September 1911.1
     From 2 December 1886, her married name became Hardy.

     Major Arthur Evelyn Hardy was born on 19 August 1893.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Laurence Hardy and Evelyn Emily Wood.2 He married Nancy Marion Devas, daughter of Horace George Devas and Edith Campbell, on 27 June 1918.1 He died in 1986.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.1

     He was educated at King's School, Bruton, Somerset, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1993.3

     From 20 June 1953, her married name became Hardy. She was chairman of the National Gardens Scheme.5
