     William Dickson Winterbottom was born in 1858.2 He was the son of Archibald Winterbottom and Helen Woolley.2 He married, firstly, Clara Craven Fletcher, daughter of Augustus Pelham Fletcher.2 He married, secondly, Laura Constance Clirehugh, daughter of W. P. Clirehugh, in 1892.2
     He lived at Aston Hall, Derbyshire, England.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire in 1903.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Derbyshire in 1917.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Derbyshire Yeomanry.2
