General Hon. Sir. Alan Richard Montagu-Stuart-Wortley1

     General Hon. Sir. Alan Richard Montagu-Stuart-Wortley was born on 20 January 1868.2 He was the son of Hon. Francis Dudley Montagu-Stuart-Wortley and Maria Elizabeth Martin.2 He married Hon. Maud Julia Mary Winn, daughter of Rowland Winn, 1st Baron Saint Oswald of Nostell and Harriet Maria Amelia Dumaresq, on 31 May 1900.2 He died on 23 September 1949 at age 81.2
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 Alan.2 General Hon. Sir. Alan Richard Montagu-Stuart-Wortley usually went by his middle name of Richard.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1 He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.2 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900, where he was severely wounded and was mentioned in dispatches.2 On 25 April 1900 he was granted the rank of a baron's younger son.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches three times.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1919.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1924 in the King's Royal Rifle Corps.2 He was Quartermaster-General, India between 1924 and 1927.2 He lived at Home Close, Highclere, Newbury, Berkshire, EnglandG.1
