Capital letters
[edit]Please note that labels (and descriptions) on Wikidata don't start with capital letters, see Help:Label. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 10:55, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, the page you linked to said that labels should be lowercase for English only. And it said that for every other language, that it must follow the guideline for that language. I only capitalized the Afrikaans labels. We are using the {{Databoks}} template which pulls info from wikidata, and it looks bad when everything is lowercase. That's why we decided to change our labels to start with a capital letter. - Rooiratel (talk) 11:21, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I changed the code on the module/template to capitalize the first letter of each label when it displays it. I will revert everything back to lowercase sometime in the future. - Rooiratel (talk) 11:55, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- The point is that to uppercase every word is easier than to know which word can be used in lower case. So this is an essential information. And I suppose that common nouns in Afrikaans (inside a sentence) should not be capitalized? --Infovarius (talk) 13:36, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I already said I'll stick to keeping it all lowercase. I edited the code for the template I'm using to capitalize the letters I need capitalized. And yes, common nouns are written in lowercase (in a sentence) in Afrikaans. - Rooiratel (talk) 14:45, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks by the way for your quick responses! :) Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 15:12, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Translation request
[edit]Hello.
Can you create en:Baku TV Tower and en:Caves in Azerbaijan in Afrikaans Wikipedia?
Yours sincerely, A2D2 (talk) 07:08, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @A2D2:, yes I can. Give me some time, but I'll try finish it before the end of the week. By the way, there is no such page as en:Caves in Azerbaijan. - Rooiratel (talk) 05:21, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the new article. Yes, there is indeed no English language article about caves in Azerbaijan. Sorry, I overlooked. The existing articles in the other languages won't be helpful as a result. Never mind about the non-existing article. Thank you again. Yours sincerely, A2D2 (talk) 21:32, 25 April 2019 (UTC)
- You are very welcome. I'll make an Afrikaans article about Azerbaijani caves from scratch. It shouldn't be a problem. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Regards - Rooiratel (talk) 05:53, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello.
- Can you translate and upload en:Azerbaijan State Economic University, en:Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, en:National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, en:National Museum of History of Azerbaijan and en:Baku State University in Afrikaans Wikipedia over an extended period at your pleasure? They should not be long. This is my last request for this year and for the first half of next year.
- @A2D2: I have added them to my todo list. I'll get around to them eventually. Regards. - Rooiratel (talk) 04:50, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
Empty item
[edit]Hi! I've seen that lately, you've created some empty items. Was it a mistake, or do you plan to work on them?
Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 15:02, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
@Nadzik: Hi, sorry about that. I made those by mistake. I was trying something with quickstatements and I made mistake. I forgot to mention that on the talk page. - Rooiratel (talk) 11:55, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
