Calendars
[edit]Your edits to trial of Agnes Sampson (Q43405091) have introduced false dates because you have entered them as proleptic Gregorian calendar (Q1985727) when they are really proleptic Julian calendar (Q1985786).
The Survey of Scottish Witchcraft Database uses the calendar in effect at the time and place being described (which was Julian for Scotland until 1752), but always treats the beginning of the year as January 1. Thus proleptic Julian calendar (Q1985786) is the correct calendar to use for dates from this database when they refer to events in England and Scotland in the 16th century.
I have corrected the values and also removed a 1 March 1593 Gregorian date for a confession. Unless the confession appeared in some sort of seance, this doesn't seem possible, and I don't see any reference to any March dates in the cited database. Jc3s5h (talk) 15:07, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

- @Jc3s5h: Hi, yes we are working with NavinoEvans to correct these incorrectly added dates. We've been using OpenRefine to add the data but it has been performing oddly when it comes to dates so we're trying to unpick what's happened and ensure the dates are added 100% correctly. No need to correct yourself, it's in hand and should be amended tomorrow. Had hoped to do it today. Also, if you can let us know about issues cropping up then we are already in contact with Julian Goodare about the database work (met him for extended meeting yesterday in fact) so can let him know ourselves rather than duplicating correspondence with him. Many thanks for highlighting this anyway, OpenRefine has been very useful but I wonder if other users of it have had similar problems when it comes to adding dates. Arcgis
[edit]Saw your comment about Arcgis on the project chat: Did you use Arcgis for your project? And did you connect it to Wikidata? In Sweden we have a project for historical maps in Stockholm, Sweden see https://www.historiskatlas.se/ that a person is doing in ARCGIS and he would like to connect it better to Wikidata. Any advice hints I am not skilled on Arcgis - Salgo60 (talk) 08:02, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
