Translates the name of a person's profession or quality into user's preferred language. See template:occupation/list to see words that are translated into your language.

This template has been copied from Commons as a guide for future development for Commons.
Not all functionality and not all languages supported by the original template may be available.

Usage

You may find some explanations of difficult occupation names on the template talk page.

To prevent double entries, confusion between British or American spelling and all kinds of “gender trouble”, we supply alternative versions of parameter #1 for those entries which have notable (!) spelling or gender variants in the English language. Therefore, you can equally supply “actor” or “actress”, “monk” or “nun”, “draftsman” or “draughtsman” or “draftsperson” or “draughtsperson” for parameter #1. These variants are listed in italics below. Anyway, the output will honour the gender information you specify using parameter #2.

parameter #1 (1) English name of the profession in lowercase letters. See list below for supported options. Pages using this template with unsupported professions will be automatically added to Category:Pages using Occupation template with incorrect parameters. empty required

lang Language code (only needs to be provided if the language displayed is to be fixed and independent of the user’s preferences). empty optional
