Publication vs. Organization
[edit]@JoSloane: as stated they are different. @Epìdosis, Kolja21, Peter F. Patel-Schneider: more ISNI-organization issues. I fixed hundreds of errors, but some users revert. Your help welcome. CV213 (talk) 14:32, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @CV213: The item states publisher (P123): Le Monde Diplomatique SA (Q55180422): publishing company. So the item you've created (Q124527745) is a duplicate that should be merged with the publisher (not with the newspaper). --Kolja21 (talk) 22:34, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Kolja21: in none of the sources of the cluster https://viaf.org/viaf/168030092/ , including not in https://isni.org/isni/000000012201302X and https://catalogue.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/cb12253063f I find the string "SA". Maybe they refer to that one, but maybe not. Only a match of the rest of the string is not enough. There sometimes seem to be items of type Organization for which no legal entity exists. It could refer to just the team that is involved in publishing the specific newspaper, while the SA could also publish other newspapers. But at least a merge there would not result in a type mismatch. CV213 (talk) 00:59, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
--Kolja21 (talk) 02:41, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- As far as I understand it: The newspaper is the only Q entity that shows a number of WP articles in various languages. It seems to me that the authorities extracted from VIAF should appear on these corresponding articles, hence the placement of authority ID numbers on the WD Q page feeding info to the WP articles. Best to all.--JoSloane (talk) 08:04, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
