First Name

[edit]

Although in some web pages he is named José Pedro ([1]), in his death certificate ([2]) and in testimonies of his birth certificate ([3], [4]) the name José is not mentioned, only his full name: Pedro Infante Cruz. The origin of the use of the name José is not clear and its reliability must be doubted. --Gusama Romero </talk> 06:30, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, in another source, based on biographical documents, only mentions the name Pedro Infante Cruz ([5]). Also, one book ([6]) quotes his birth certificate using only the name Pedro (son of Delfino Infante and Refugio Cruz), so we can assume that his legal name was Pedro Infante Cruz. However, another book assures that José Pedro Infante Cruz is his baptismal name ([7]). (By the way, I did not know how to add the books, so I put the link to Google Books). --Gusama Romero </talk> 11:02, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Gusama Romero: Nice detective work! Generally speaking it's very unlikely that any person of that generation, male or female, born to a Catholic faith family in a Spanish speaking country would have only one given name. Almost always will there be at least two, and at least one of which refers to a Catholic saint/virgin. (I realize that's not such a helpful hint in the case of José Pedro...)
