Indigenous to
[edit]There is a discussion about endemic/indigenous status at Wikidata:Property proposal/Natural science#ecoregion. John Vandenberg (talk) 12:56, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Specificity?
[edit]I have a question about what to do when encountering a list as seen on page 10 here. As you can see, Arabis koehleri var. koehleri, Arabis koehleri var. stipitata, and Cardamine nuttallii var. gemmata are all endemic to serptentine soils in the Northern Klamath Mountains, and Linanthus nuttallii ssp. howellii is endemic to serpentine soils in the Southern Klamath Mountains. Is there any way to allow such specificity to be reflected, or should we just give up the goat and label them all as endemics to the Klamath Mountains? Perhaps species could have an endemic region, and a separate endemic substrate property?TypingAway (talk) 22:00, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- I suppose it can be done with some qualifiers. --Infovarius (talk) 09:43, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
- I see. That would work perfectly, thank you. TypingAway (talk) 03:31, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Taxons
[edit]This property is so far limited to taxons. But I think it is not illogical to have it on such things as endemic flora of Mauritius Island (Q3073896). Can someone fix the constraints so that it accepts such articles? Thierry Caro (talk) 08:40, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
Taxon limit
[edit]I also just came across trying to use this property for something that is not a taxon, see squonk (Q2419622), which I think would be a fictional taxon (Q15707583). Perhaps this should be slightly relaxed? ·addshore· talk to me! 21:42, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
