Reinforced wall

A reinforced wall in Pikmin 3.

Reinforced walls (also known as stone walls[1], rock walls[2], rock gates[3] or stone gates[4]) are gates that can only be destroyed with bomb rocks. Pikmin cannot break these stone walls on their own; if they are directed to the wall, they will just tap their stems at them for a bit, before sighing and giving up.

In Pikmin, there are two visually distinct types of reinforced walls: "white" walls, which require either three or six bomb rocks to go down depending on the individual wall, and "black" walls which always require nine six bomb rocks. In Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4, three bomb rocks are required to destroy a reinforced wall (except for one wall in the Battle Enemies! version of Clockwork Chasm that only requires one bomb rock).

In Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4, reinforced walls seem to be made out of concrete, as pieces of rebar can be seen sticking out of the top. In Pikmin 3 Deluxe, most of these walls have designs featuring thin white lines in the shape of Olimar and some Pikmin.

Locations[edit]

Pikmin
  • The Impact Site: The area's reinforced wall, that separates the area's "beach" and the tree stump, takes three bomb rocks to get fully knocked down.
  • The Forest of Hope: There are four reinforced walls total. Two of them are located near the resting spot of the Yellow Onion; the one leading to the Whimsical Radar takes three bomb-rocks, and the one blocking off the route to the Burrowing Snagrets takes six bomb rocks. The one blocking off the other way out of the landing site takes six bomb rocks, while the one blocking off the Extraordinary Bolt takes nine bomb rocks.
  • The Forest Navel: There are five reinforced walls total, with four of them being scattered around the landing site plateau, serving only to shorten navigation and carrying distance when destroyed. One of them is directly connected to the landing site, and takes six bomb rocks, and another that takes nine bomb rocks sits close to it and the climbing stick that is used to reach the Automatic Gear, blocking a quick connection between the area's main hill and the Fiery Blowhog filled beach. A six bomb rock strong wall is located right next to the two sloped bridges that better connect the landing site and beach, and a wall that takes nine bomb rocks is just to the right of the previous wall, connecting the Male Sheargrub and Shearwig filled corridor with the black gate blocking a shortcut to the to the final wall; one that takes six bomb rocks to get fully knocked down and that blocks off the entrance to the Beady Long Legs' arena. It is the only wall in the area that must be destroyed in order to obtain a ship part.
  • The Distant Spring: This area has a total of only two reinforced walls; only one of which is required to retrieve parts from the northern reaches of the area. The one next to the landing site, which takes nine bomb rocks, opens up a ideal route for most of the ship parts in the northern parts of the map to take, while the one near the Gluon Drive that takes six bomb rocks provides a potentially safer path for the Zirconium Rotor and the Pilot's Seat to take.
  • The Final Trial: The only reinforced wall takes three bomb rocks to get fully knocked down and is located almost exactly in the middle of the area, between the two bridges that need to be built to open up a path to the Emperor Bulblax's arena.

  • Formidable Oak: The only reinforced wall in this area is in the long corridor where the Mysterious Life-Form first begins chasing the player. It blocks a shortcut to the end of the first room.
  • Looking for Louie: A total of four reinforced walls prevent Olimar and Louie from reuniting: one near the starting positions of each, and two in the middle on either side of a bridge.
  • Another Part Found: Two reinforced walls block the route the ship part will take: one near the middle of the route, and one toward the end.
