Gameplay[edit]
In this event, the player starts by swinging the GamePad down when "Go!" appears onscreen, and can perform a starting dash if they swing it down with perfect timing, but will perform a delayed start if they swing it down to early. The player can also charge up energy before starting by pressing and holding or , and will gain a speed boost if charged with the right timing. Once the player has started, the player can turn their character by tilting the GamePad left and right, and can crouch by tilting it forward to gain speed. Along the course, the player will encounter grind rails and boxes, which they must steer toward to be able to perform tricks from. Each trick obstacle has a star indication of the difficulty of the trick before the player gets on it, however more difficult tricks give the player the opportunity to score more points. To grind on the grind rails, the player must balance their character by tilting the GamePad left and right. More difficult grind rails are longer and have more bumps in them than the easier ones. The player will receive a better score on grind rails for keeping a steady balance for longer, however grind rails can be fallen off of and will not award the player any points if this happens. To perform tricks on the boxes, the player must swing the GamePad upwards when they pass over the arrow marks to perform tricks. More difficult boxes have more tricks, and the player can also perform an extra trick jumping off the box if they successfully perform all of the others. The player can earn more points by performing the tricks with better timing. The course also features ramps, which the player can jump from by swinging the GamePad up at the end of the ramp, with swings closer to the end giving the player more air time. Once in the air, the player can perform tricks by sliding the ball on the GamePad's touchscreen in the indicated direction, with more spins earning them more points. As the player comes in to land from the jump, they must touch and hold the touch screen to successfully land, otherwise they will receive a one point penalty. Successfully landing also gives the player a speed boost. At the end of the event, the player receives a score and rank from C to A+ for their tricks and speed, as well as an overall score. The total score is used to determine the player's placing in the event, with the character with the highest score winning.
