First appearance | The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! ("Elvin Lives") (1989) |
The Koopallac is a convertible owned by Kool Koopa in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Elvin Lives," functioning as his main mode of transportation throughout the episode. Its name is a portmanteau of "Koopa" and "Cadillac", an American automobile brand.
At the beginning of the episode, Kool Koopa, accompanied by a group of greaser Goombas, drives Koopallac to record shop with an Elvin Parsley billboard, with two Goombas replacing it with a billboard of Kool Koopa. Later, after Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Elvin's blue suedes shoes flee from the Half Life Malt Shop, Kool Koopa, having apprehended Princess Toadstool, drives off with her in the Koopallac.
After Mario and Luigi convert an old truck into a hot rod, they pursue Koopallac. Upon catching up to it, they drive in circles around it, saving Princess Toadstool from Kool Koopa's grasp before promptly outrunning it. However, they do not outrun the greaser Goombas, one of which kick a Bob-omb at one of their hot rod's tires, deflating it and causing the car to spin out and crash, destroying it and allowing the Koopallac to catch up to them. However, Mario mentions there being a patch of Fire Flowers nearby, and he and Luigi pick one up, becoming Super Mario and Super Luigi. They then use their fire powers to deter the greaser Goombas away, prompting Kool Koopa to flee. However Mario and Luigi catch up to him, with Luigi taunting him. As Kool Koopa tells him to leave, Mario jumps into the driver's seat and steers the car towards a cliff, resulting in the Koopallac driving off the cliff and being destroyed.
