Lame-duck Biden ramps up sanctions on Israelis — and eases up on terrorists

Mark Dubowitz & Eugene Kontorovich | FDD | November 17, 2024

As he heads for the exit, President Biden is easing sanctions on Hamas and Hezbollah — while sanctioning Jews in Israel.

Under pressure from Israel-bashing critics, including scores of congressional Democrats, a president who stood firmly behind Israel after the Oct. 7 massacre seems to have lost his moral compass.

And just as President Barack Obama in his last months in office allowed the UN Security Council to pass a resolution slamming Israel, Biden may use sanctions to further turn the screws on the Jewish state in his lame-duck stretch.

Biden Caves, Allows Ukraine To Use US Missiles For Long-Range Strikes Inside Russia

Hailey Gomez | Daily Caller  November 17, 2024

President Joe Biden officially authorized Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles Sunday for strikes inside Russia, according to multiple outlets.

For more than two years, the war between Ukraine and Russia has cost the United States billions in aid, as the Biden administration has sought to support Ukraine in its fight. In February, U.S. officials began considering sending the longer-range Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to help Ukraine target Russian-occupied territory.

The Revolution of 2024

Peloni:  Trump’s victory is in fact a point of revolution which will be strongly resisted over the next four years but whatever victories might be achieved in that time will be felt over the next several generations.

| November 16, 2024

People are out and about, smiling at each other. It’s been true since the morning after the election, the results of which defied every prediction. Who doesn’t like to see the smug elites who have ruled the world for five awful years taken down a peg?

More than that, there are hints of a return to sanity. Mainstream advertisers are suddenly returning to X, putting their economic interest above their tribalist loyalties. The editor of pro-lockdowns Scientific American, which had long blessed totalitarian measures as true science, has resigned.

The American Elections and What it Means for North American Jewry and Israel

Galilee hillsides-photo by Geoffrey Clarfield

A few days ago I went to a lecture at a Synagogue in Montreal called, “The American Elections and What It Means for North American Jewry and Israel,” by Professor David M. Shribman, a Jewish Montreal born dual citizen of Canada and the USA,  distinguished professor of politics, with an impressive academic record as well as experience as a political journalist.

I was most anxious to hear what such a worldly commentator had to say about this sea change in world politics, but it is as if he ended his lecture before answering the question implied in the title.

MR. PRESIDENT, WHO ON EARTH IS VETTING YOUR MAGA APPOINTEES? PART TWO

Kelleigh Nelson

Trump cannot be bought, but his advisors can.  Tom Homan

It is essential to seek out enemy agents who have come to conduct espionage against you and to bribe them to serve you. Give them instructions and care for them. Thus, doubled agents are recruited and used. Sun Tzu

President Donald Trump has already declared what he plans to do.  He expressed his objectives over and over again in every rally.  He also promised to cancel all restrictions of arms shipments to Israel, already blessing our nation. We were overjoyed listening to him during those rallies, horrified at the assassination attempts and failure to protect him, and ultimately thrilled with the election results.

We said a resounding “NO” to the Stalinist Democrat Party’s promotion of inflation, border invasion, endless wars, presidents who try to jail their opponents, the celebration of infanticide and surgical mutilations of our children.

Trump Would Be Wise To Deliver Regime Change in Iran

Peloni:  Sometimes war is not the only way forward, but on occasion, war will be the only way way forward.  Being able to distinguish between these two sets of circumstances is the true test of leadership.  Regime change in Tehran is necessary for both Israel and the US.  Should Trump fail to recognize  and act on this fact, it will continue to endanger both these great nations.

by Con Coughlin  •  Gatestone Institute •  November 17, 2024 at 5:00 am

After the success Donald Trump enjoyed negotiating the Abraham Accords towards the end of his first term in office, which saw a number of leading Arab states normalise relations with Israel, it is widely expected that his new administration will want to pursue a similar policy of ending hostilities in the Middle East. Pictured from left to right: Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdullatif al-Zayani, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump, and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan participate in the signing of the Abraham Accords in Washington, DC on September 15, 2020. • The October 7, 2023 attacks carried out against Israel by Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists…. was the direct result of Tehran’s ability to fund the terrorist movement to the tune of $100 million a year, an operation that would not have been possible without Biden’s lenient attitude towards the ayatollahs.

Israel’s expanding efforts to disrupt Hezbollah’s supply chain

Emanuele Ottolenghi & Joe Truzman | November 15, 2024

In recent years, Iran steadily built up Hezbollah’s arsenal in Lebanon and Syria by shipping weapons, flying them in, and transporting them by truck. Weapons consignments arrived at ports and airports and were stored at warehouses in both countries before being distributed to Hezbollah units. Israel has sought to disrupt the flow of weapons, chiefly by bombing raids on targets in Syria (including the port of Latakia and the airport in Damascus). Since Hezbollah joined Hamas and opened a second front against Israel on October 8, 2023, Israel has hit targets in Lebanon as well. But Israel’s efforts to degrade and destroy Hezbollah’s arsenal and disrupt Iran’s efforts to resupply it have dramatically increased in tempo since September 28, the day after Israel eliminated Hezbollah’s late leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

Victory by the Moon: The symbolic game of dates*

Peloni:  This is a fascinating read!

If Muslim holy days are repeatedly violated, the jihad army draws down onto itself the humiliating reputation of being unable to defend the sanctity of the holy days, or to punish those who violate such sanctity.

ANJULI PANDAVAR

Editorial note: Having been a Muslim for the early part of my life, I now do all I can to help save Jews from the Holocaust the Muslims have in store for them. Most maddening about these efforts has been the absolute refusal, not to say inability, of almost every Jew I’ve spoken to, to even consider what I’m saying. Their responses never reference reality, but always their own moral precepts or self-referential opinions. I have even encountered abuse from Jews.

Rabbi Herzog: This is what Trump will do with #UAE

Rabbi Jacob Herzog

This is what Trump will do with #UAE

Trump’s goal will be to curb the UAE’s meddling in the areas it has been involved in. He will remind President #Mohammed_Bin_Zayed of his modest position in the region and hold the UAE and others accountable for any violations committed in the past four years.

ROOKE: Don’t Let Calls For Unity Fool You. The GOP Is Still At War

Peloni:  The sharply opposing ideologies between MAGA and GOPe helped mount countless coups against a sitting president of their own party and ultimately led to the election fraud being first supported and later ignored.  As the Democrats have their own internal war, so too do the Republicans, but the Democrats ALWAY project unity, while the Republican are far less successful in doing so.

Mary Rooke | Daily Caller |

Republican South Dakota Sen. John Thune was elected Senate Majority Leader on Wednesday. While he appears to have agreed to work with President-elect Donald Trump to confirm his political and judicial nominations and further his agenda, the story is far from over.

Israel should reject the very dumb idea of a “deal.”

Peloni:  The Old Conception required significant policies to be based on fantasy rather than reality.  The “deal” being pushed on Israel requires a resurgence of this Old Conception foundation, and for Israel to accept doing so would be the greatest of follies.  Reject the deal.

House Kills Tool For New Trump Admin To Crack Down On Alleged Pro-Terrorist Nonprofits

Peloni:  There are tools aplenty to deal with funding terror in the US.  If employing these existing measures are too limited, it would be reasonable to seek expanding such legislation, but passing new legislation would hardly result in the desired outcome if existing legislation is yet to be enforced.

Eireann Van Natta | Daily Caller |

Democrats killed a bill Tuesday to give the Trump administration power to crack down on allegedly pro-terror nonprofits.
