On December 12, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented state awards to outstanding citizens of Russia at the Kremlin. Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and President of HSE University, was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st Class.

On December 1, the HSE Faculty of Humanities celebrated its 10th anniversary. In honour of the occasion, HSE leaders, representatives of other universities, and members of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) gathered at the university’s Cultural Centre to congratulate the faculty.

Addressing the Eastern Economic Forum, HSE University's experts discussed the role of universities in the integrated development of territories, Russia-China cooperation on carbon neutrality, and the role of businesses and non-profit organisations in society's pursuit of a better future.

Hosted in HSE Cultural Center, the ceremony welcomed in its crowded hall 200+ graduates who were joined by their parents, faculty, leaders of HSE and ICEF, and guests.

How are digital platforms contributing to sustainable development? How is international cooperation progressing in Eurasia? How should the Russia-India business dialogue proceed? HSE University's scientists presented their answers during expert discussions at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Professor Alexander Shokhin, President of HSE University and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE), participated in the Digital Security Law Forum at MGIMO University. He discussed the integration of digital finance and digital financial assets into the country's economic landscape and advocated for the legalisation of cryptocurrency mining as a form of entrepreneurial activity.

The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation held I^-st International Scientific and Practical Forum «The Law of Digital Security». The first day of the Forum consisted of plenary sessions attended as a listener by the Research Fellow of the International Laboratory of Digital Transformation in Public Administration of the HSE University Evgeny Diskin.

HSE University is one of the leaders in IT education and research in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Thanks to this, the university recently received the highest grant of the Priority 2030 programme. The integration of AI technologies into education is set to become a strategic direction for the university’s development over the next five years. What changes are coming to HSE University in this regard and how they will affect students and teachers? These issues were discussed at a meeting of HSE University’s Academic Council on December 20.

The Russian economy has suffered due to sanctions, but has also adapted and begun to grow, compensating for last year’s losses. Mikhail Zadornov, Russia’s former Minister of Finance and member of HSE University’s Supervisory Council, spoke to students of HSE University’s International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) about the economic situation in the country and the development of the financial sector in the new environment. The event was moderated by HSE University President and Head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) Alexander Shokhin. The lecture was the continuation of a series of meetings among well-known Russian practical economists and entrepreneurs and ICEF students.

ICEF’s 2023 graduation ceremony was held in HSE Cultural Centre and celebrated the graduation of the 23^rd class of bachelor’s and the 15^th class of master’s students. The two classes were awarded their degrees and delivered graduation speeches before an audience of ICEF faculty, HSE leaders, staff, and families.

Nizhny Novgorod has hosted the Investment Leaders Forum organised by the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation jointly with executive authorities under the patronage of Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin. The participants discussed the region's investment potential and highlighted the best practices in investment attraction and the support and implementation of investment projects. The forum was partnered with HSE University.

The Russian economy has demonstrated high resilience to unprecedented external pressure and has managed to largely adapt to new conditions. As early as this year, it can go from recession to growth. The issue of where to find drivers and resources for this was discussed at a plenary session titled ‘Russian Economy under Sanctions: From Adaptation to Sustainable Growth’ at the XXIV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference held at HSE University as part of the Decade of Science and Technology. Philipp Gabunia, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, has recently met with students of HSE University. His lecture opened a series of meetings with leading practicing economists on the development of Russia's economy in the current environment.

The meeting was held in person for the first time in over two years. It was attended by Sergey Kravtsov, Russian Minister of Education, and Dmitry Smyslov, Vice President of VK. The Council discussed HSE University’s breakthrough projects in engineering and artificial intelligence and elected new distinguished and tenured professors.

On July 2, Mr Anisimov was introduced to the HSE Academic Council at its meeting at HSE campus in Pokrovka. Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Yaroslav Kuzminov, HSE University Academic Supervisor, and HSE University President Alexander Shokhin took part in the meeting.

Alexander Shokhin and Evgeny Yasin were reelected for another five-year term by the members of the HSE Academic Council.

The winners are 16 staff members in seven ‘golden’ categories and 21 students in the ‘Silver Nestling’ category.  The winners of the ‘Golden Citation’, which is awarded to the most cited HSE scholar, have also been announced. The awards ceremony was held on November 27, on the HSE's birthday.
