She is Associate Professor in Computer Science at the Department of Information Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics (DISIM) of University of L'Aquila.

She has been the Head of the Study Programme in Applied Data Science Master Degree from october 2018 to october 2021. She has been also part of the Committee that defined the Applied Data Science Master Degree. She is the coordinator of the Committe that is re-designing the new Applied Data Science Master Degree (LM Data- Data Science). 

She is the coordinator of PINKAMP- le ragazze contano! the summer camp of University of L'Aquila for gilrs of high school on computer science, information engineering and mathematics topics. The aim of the camp is to bring girls closer to STEM topics in order to reduce the gender gap in such topics. Pinkamp runs since 2018.

Since November 2015, she is the Director of the University of L'Aquila Node of the InfoLife CINI Laboratorory. The laboratory deals with Bioinformatics and System Biology research topics.

She is (has been) involved in several EU and Italian research and development projects, as scientific coordinator, research unit coordinator, and work package leader. She is (co-)author of about 80 publications in international journals, conference proceedings, and 3 books. She is serving as reviewer for several international conferences, workshops, and international journals.

In May 2014, she found SMARTLY s.r.l., a SPIN OFF of the University of L'Aquila. From May 2014 to Febbruary 2018 she was a Member of the Board of Directors of  SMARTLY s.r.l. 

Since December 2014, she is Member of the Executive Board of Off Site Art, an association established in L'Aquila that promotes culture initiative.
