Apply to MBA
Your moment begins here.
The MBA Program utilizes a rolling admissions process by which applications are considered and evaluated as they are received. However, applications are not reviewed until they are complete. Applicants are highly encouraged to apply as early as possible.
How to apply id="apply"
There are three steps you will need to complete in the application process.
1. Pre-apply with MBA form
Complete the pre-application form before you fill out the UF Graduate School Application, so that we may begin the admissions review process.
2. Complete the UF Graduate School Application
After you pre-apply to MBA, you will need to complete the UF Graduate School application, including the MBA supplemental questions. Please note character limits in the short answers and essays fields. View the essay questions and details before you get started. You must complete the undergraduate GPA portion to avoid delayed processing.
In the UF Graduate School Application, you’ll also need to upload your resume and request two letters of recommendation. The application fee is $30 and can be paid online.
The letter of recommendation process has recently changed to provide a better user experience for both applicants and recommenders. Keep in mind the MBA program requires two professional letters of recommendation that can be uploaded via the UF Graduate School application portal. Recommenders have a choice of either uploading their own evaluation or they are welcome to use our Common Letter of Recommendation Form. Regardless of format chosen, they must be submitted directly by your recommender to the MBA office email if not uploaded within your application.
Regarding letters of recommendation:
- Recommendation letters should not be submitted by relatives or former professors. If you are self-employed or work for your family business, please request a letter from a client, vendor, or mentor.
- A current MBA student or alumnus, they can serve as a recommender by providing a brief endorsement directly to an MBA Admissions representative.
- If you are active-duty in the military, you are welcome to submit your last two evaluations in place of recommendation letters by emailing them to the MBA office.
Once your application has been submitted, our Admissions Coordinator will provide you with an update regarding your application materials. Please allow for five business days to receive this update during high volume periods. Additionally, applicants can verify how many letters of recommendation have been received by checking their application status.
Note: It is important that you use the specific MBA application link provided here or by the MBA team. Using any other link may lead to an incorrect application.
3. Submit supplemental materials
In addition to the required forms, here are the materials you will need to apply.
Contact all post-secondary institutions attended and request your official, original academic records or transcripts be submitted one of two ways:
- Institution electronically submit transcripts via E-Scrip/Credentials Solutions, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse or Scrip-Safe to transfer admissions.
- Mailed directly to Graduate Admissions:
UF Office of Admissions
PO Box 114000
201 Criser Hall
Gainesville, Florida 32611-4000, U.S.A.
If mailed, transcripts must be received in a sealed, signed envelope which you forward, unopened, to the UF Graduate Admissions office.
If you are an alumnus of the University of Florida, we can retrieve your official UF transcripts internally, but you will need to submit an unofficial version within the online application.
If admitted to the MBA program, official transcript(s) will be required before the end of your first term.
Full-Time MBA: Full-time applicants are still required to submit a test score.
GMAT: Email your unofficial score report to the MBA office. Your official test score should be sent directly to the University of Florida, institution code 5812.
GRE: Full-Time MBA applicants are still encouraged to submit a GMAT Exam as it is the preferred test. However, we will accept the GRE.
For questions related to GMAT/GRE test scores, please email, or contact an admissions representative.
Professional MBA (Executive, Online, South Florida, and Weekend Part-Time): A GMAT or GRE score is not required to complete an application for our professional MBA programs (Executive, Online, Weekend Part-Time, and South Florida). However, you may submit a GMAT or GRE score if you feel sharing a test score will make your application more competitive. If a test score is submitted, the admissions committee will use your score as an additional data point for consideration. An applicant will not be penalized if a test score is not provided or if a submitted test score is below the admissions range. Instead of requiring a test score, the admissions committee will rely on other indicators of ability when reviewing your file, including, but not limited to – career trajectory and professional success, leadership experience, and previous academic performance. We review all applicants holistically and the most competitive applicants showcase strength in all areas.
Extended deadlines for international candidates
Early application is encouraged and recommended to secure top scholarship awards. Applications for all full time programs will be considered and evaluated on a rolling basis until the class has filled. Please contact an admissions offer directly at 1.877.435.2622 or via email for more information about extended deadlines after round three deadlines have passed.
Required documentation
Copies of the official transcripts, degrees/diplomas, and certified translations may be accepted for the application process only. These copies will be considered unofficial until original copies are presented. Upon an offer of admission, the official documents must be presented at, or before, the orientation session for the program to which you have been admitted.
Transcripts/degrees
All applicants must submit official copies (in the native language) of each transcript, mark sheet and diploma/degree certificate from each university or college from which a degree was earned. In addition, certified English translations of all documents must be presented. A notarized translation is not considered official nor is a translation by the applicant. A certified private translator or official translation agency (such as, Josef Silny and Associates) may be used by the applicant if your institution does not provide certified translations of your transcripts and degree statements.
International candidates must have a college-level education that is equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree. Transcripts are reviewed by the University of Florida Office of Graduate Admissions once an application for admission has been submitted. If there is doubt regarding degree equivalency, transcripts may also be evaluated by an outside agency such as World Education Services. Credential evaluation reports prepared by private agencies cannot be submitted in place of transcripts, but may be submitted as supporting documentation.
GMAT/GRE
International applicants for the Full-Time MBA program must submit a GMAT or a GRE score to be considered for admission.
English language proficiency exams
If English is not your native language and you do not have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a country where English is the official language, a TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB score must be submitted. Applicants should also score at least 30 on the verbal section of the GMAT and may be asked to interview to demonstrate English proficiency. Because the language exam is only one factor in the admissions decision, a high score does not guarantee admission.
Applicants must submit official results from one of the following English language proficiency exams, or have documented successful completion of the University of Florida English Language Institute Program.
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.
Minimum scores:
- Internet-based: 80
- Computer-based: 213
- Paper-based: 550
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
Minimum score: 6
MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery)
Minimum score: 77
Exceptions include:
- Applicant is a citizen of a country where English is an official language
- Applicant has spent at least one academic year as a full-time student at a college or university in a country where English is an official language
- Applicant has earned a prior bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree at an accredited university in the United States.
- Applicant is a citizen of an exempt country listed on UF Admissions’ qualifying countries.
Immigration documentation
Please submit copies of your current immigration documentation along with your application materials. Example: Resident Alien Card
Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR)
Once an applicant is admitted, they will be contacted by a representative from the UF International Center with further instructions on how to submit the CFR, and initiate the I-20 process.
Visa requirements
International candidates who require a student visa should submit their applications early to ensure that there is sufficient time to file the necessary paperwork prior to the start of classes. Upon acceptance to the University and after verification of financial solvency, candidates will receive Form I-20 or IAP-66 for a student visa. Processing of the I-20 paperwork can often take 6-8 weeks and is not started until a candidate has been admitted by the University. Students should not leave their home country before obtaining a student visa or come to the U.S. with a B-2 tourist visa.
Non-U.S. citizens, who are not sponsored by a company, are required to obtain a visa to study in the United States. Most will require the F1 visa, although there may be a small number who require a different visa depending on their situation (spouses of current students, for example). Individuals already working in the U.S. on a H1B, who will continue to work, will not be required to obtain a student visa.

Frequently asked questions
- Can the application fee be waived?
The University does not waive the non-refundable application fee under any circumstances.
- I forgot the UF ID provided to me during the application process. Can you provide it?
We are unable to access or share your UF ID, as this is your unique identifier. If you forget or misplace it, please follow the instructions for retrieving it.
- Can I apply to more than one MBA Program?
Only one application should be submitted, and we advise applying to the program that is your top choice. The admissions committee may consider you for other programs if you are not eligible for your first choice.
- What if I can’t submit the application by the deadline?
We offer rolling admissions and encourage applicants to submit their applications year-round. If you apply after the deadline, you will be considered for the upcoming class only if there is space available. We encourage you to contact the admissions team to see if there is space available and to design a personalized timeline for submitting materials.
- Once my application is complete, how long will it take to receive an admission decision?
The decision delivery timeline will vary by program and time of year, but goal is to deliver a decision within 4-6 weeks. You are welcome to contact us via the MBA office email once your application is submitted to check your status.
- Once accepted, how can I reserve my spot in the program?
Once you are admitted, your official admissions letter and deposit invoice will be sent electronically to your email address on file within 5 business days. Submitting your deposit payment will reserve your spot within the cohort you were admitted into.
- Can I defer my admission from one term to another?
When an admitted student is unable to enroll in the term originally applied for and requests to begin in a later term, the admissions committee will evaluate the decision on a case-by-case basis. Outstanding applicants will be offered admission for the subsequent term and other applicants will rejoin the applicant pool.
