Cache files

Hey, do you still have the cache files you saved? I noticed that numbers 2117 to 2189 (Drift (episode) to Eco-structuring) weren't in the zip file Scout made available. --abates 03:27, 28 March 2009 (EDT)

As a matter of fact I do. I downloaded 2103 to 2190 on a different computer and apparently never got them copied over to my main cache directory. I could've sworn I at least tried to do it. Anyway, I apologize letting that slip by and thank you for catching it. I uploaded a zip file of the full group (in case the other saves are needed) to Scout's ftp as well as my own site here:
http://xoomer.virgilio.it/tfmedia/2103-2118.zip
The link won't work because my hosting company blocks hotlinking. But if you copy and paste the URL, it'll work. --Tigerpaw28 12:23, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
Fantastic! I'll go through that this morning and see if any of the articles need updating. --abates 16:59, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
And all done! --abates 19:27, 28 March 2009 (EDT)
Cool! Wish I could get through stuff as fast as you do. (I'm still working on those 131 cache files)--Tigerpaw28 01:18, 29 March 2009 (EDT)

[[wikia:*]]

Don't make/change links to [[wikia:*]]. If you absolutely NEED to do the link, do it as an external link (i.e., [http://*.wikia.com/*], since that triggers a rel="nofollow" and thus doesn't give them googlejuice. - SanityOrMadness 18:29, 17 September 2009 (EDT)

Sorry about that. I thought read on the Community Portal somewhere that all the links are set to have rel="nofollow" by default. Outside Wikilinks must not fall under that then? --Tigerpaw28 18:37, 17 September 2009 (EDT)
Other way around - any single square bracket (external/full URL) link *is* set to have rel="nofollow". Any double square bracket link (internal/partial URL), including ones to other wikis such as [[Wikipedia:*]], [[Wiktionary:*]] and [[Wikia:*]], *doesn't* have the nofollow set. - SanityOrMadness 18:51, 17 September 2009 (EDT)

Franchise Navigation

Thanks for updating the nav boxes. Could you do the Playschool Go-Bots (toyline) as well? Khajidha 08:18, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

Your wish is my command.com. --Tigerpaw28 00:56, 28 October 2009 (EDT)

1985

Just wanted to give you props for the edit comment. cracked me up. --G1MarvelBlaster 23:41, 8 November 2009 (EST)

Thanks! It seemed so ridiculously appropriate and humorous I couldn't help but use it. --Tigerpaw28 00:08, 9 November 2009 (EST)

Alliance VHS tapes

Hey, could you be a bit more specific about which eps are on each Alliance Atlantis tape? At the moment it says that the first release contains episodes 1 to 11, which I'm pretty sure can't be right. Is there somewhere online that lists details like this? (Other than Raksha's Artifacts page, which only covers G1.) Also, the DVD date(s) came from Amazon CA. I don't know if they're right, but that's the most accurate source I know of, and the one (inc. Amazon UK and US) that I use for all my more-recent release date info. If you know of a more reliable source, don't keep it to yourself. - Magnus Maximus 03:20, 11 December 2009 (EST)

I'll redo the episode listings, no problem. I was under the impression that the tapes contained 5 sequential episodes with no gaps in the episode order, because the one I own (Optimus Lives!) does that. My main source for the info on these is Rockman's Robots In Disguise www.tfrid.com. In addition to the TF picture section that has the cover images, the for sale section has links for purchasing the videos from Videoflicks. That site is defunct, but you can put the links into the Wayback Machine and get the pages. Their dates for the VHS tapes put them several years prior to the Amazon.ca dates, which corresponds to posts I've found on alt.toys.transformers discussing the tapes as early as 1997. To be fair, I do have more confidence in the DVD dates. Figured it'd be good to see if I could find something to back the Amazon dates. --Tigerpaw28 11:41, 11 December 2009 (EST)

Norwegian Transformers Cybertron Promo

Since you've done a lot of work on the commercial page, I thought I'd ask if you've seen this yet:

Optimus Gets Funky

--Monzo 16:40, 2 February 2010 (EST)

I know I previously came across the dancing Optimus Prime animation, it was posted by the animator responsible for it. I don't think I ever found the full thing though, and forgot about it entirely by the time I went to do the international page. Either way, I've downloaded it off YouTube in case it gets deleted and I'll add it to the International Commercial page as soon as I get a chance. Thanks Monzo. --Tigerpaw28 12:55, 3 February 2010 (EST)

1988

Really? You want someone to have to cite proof that the Small Headmasters were 1988 toys? --ItsWalky 23:28, 16 February 2010 (EST)

Obviously they were released in the US in 1988. However, the anon added them to the list of EUROPEAN releases. Our own page on the subject does not list them as known European releases. If you or one of our other regular editors had added it, I wouldn't have questioned it so much. But I don't trust that type of info coming from an anon without some sort of source. I figured they were most likely mistakenly assuming Europe got everything we did, or not realizing that was the European section. --Tigerpaw28 00:23, 17 February 2010 (EST)
Aha. --ItsWalky 00:24, 17 February 2010 (EST)

Telemocha

Hey, Tigerpaw? I want to archive those Telemocha Diorama Story videos you put up, but the youtube-grabber I prefer to use isn't recognizing the URLs. Would you be able to toss them up in a .zip/rar to megaupload or something? --Monzo 18:23, 28 February 2010 (EST)

No problemo Monzo. Would you want the uncompressed DVD rips (Mpeg video, around 230MB apiece) or just the compressed versions (AVI video, around 20MB apiece)? As for your grabber, it isn't working because I have the videos set to private. Wanted to keep it to just Wiki editors. --Tigerpaw28 19:11, 28 February 2010 (EST)
Ahh... I guess the 230mb versions. Sorry for the delay in responding. --Monzo 21:05, 8 March 2010 (EST)
That's okay. I actually wondered if I was checking up too soon. Anyway, here's TM-01 Convoy to start. I'll work on uploading TM-02 through TM-12 after I get out of class tomorrow/later today. I can upload the DX's once they come in the mail (likely after Interrobang gets his), but I'm holding off on getting Motorarm for the moment. --Tigerpaw28 02:23, 9 March 2010 (EST)
TM-02 TM-03 TM-04 TM-05 and TM-06 --Tigerpaw28 22:02, 11 March 2010 (EST)
Should have had these up long ago, sorry about that. TM-07, TM-08, TM-09, TM-10, TM-11, and TM-12. I'm going to try and have the two DX chapters up by the end of the weekend. --Tigerpaw28 01:03, 20 August 2010 (EDT)

G2 logo scans

I've scanned both G2 logos from my Laser Prime box. I don't have much experience in photo editing, so someone else will need to clean these up.

http://tfwiki.net/~fortmax/random/JG2Compact.jpg http://tfwiki.net/~fortmax/random/JG2Long.jpg --FortMax 14:19, 25 September 2010 (EDT)

Ah, thank you very much sir. I have some experience but not enough for this. I've posted a request for clean-up help in the Allspark Wiki thread, so hopefully somebody will see that and be able to do the clean up. --Tigerpaw28 23:38, 26 September 2010 (EDT)

BW Commercials

Do you still have the video files of the BW commercials you've uploaded to youtube? Brian Ward's trying to get the best versions of the commercials for Shout's DVD set. If you need a place to put them, and can't use Megaupload, come to #wiigii! on irc.nightstar.net, DCC them to me, and I'll put them on my webspace. If you don't use IRC, I'll see if Scout can set you up with a FTP account on the wiki, or give you my password. --FortMax 16:27, 19 March 2011 (EDT)

I've actually been trying to get in contact with Brian about this but my emails don't seem to be getting through. I'll go ahead and upload my personal rips to MegaUpload, but Brian might have wanted me to send the original tape for the TM2 Ultras ad since I offered. --Tigerpaw28 16:48, 19 March 2011 (EDT)
If you need to send him the links, let me know. --FortMax 19:55, 19 March 2011 (EDT)
If you could pass them along that would be great. These are the links:

Tigatron Diorama Story

Hey. I was wondering if you still had the DVD for Telemocha Tigatron. I did individual articles for all of the chapters, but I still lack Tigatron. Is there any chance you could fill in the featured character list for Tigatron Chapter and add an image? (Plus fill in the Character Data File information in the notes.) —Interrobang 02:10, 7 August 2011 (EDT)

Still have it. I added the featured characters list already. I'll get the screencap and Character Data File info (At least what I can without reading/speaking Japanese) done by the end of this weekend. I'm not actually sure about the first appearances of Starscream, Ratchet and Prime because they're initially shown among a bunch of silhouettes. I don't know if that's the first appearance in a fictional sense or not. I have it uploaded if you want to check. At YouTube here (it's been switched from Private to Unlisted so you should be able to see it) and a high quality version at MegaUpload at the link titled 12 in my response to Monzo above. --Tigerpaw28 15:32, 9 August 2011 (EDT)
Thanks! For the CDF, you could just get screencaps of the two different modes and I could do the rest. —Interrobang 21:23, 9 August 2011 (EDT)
Sorry for taking so long with these, but here's the screencaps you requested:
--Tigerpaw28 14:00, 29 August 2011 (EDT)
Thanks for those caps, but that's not what I'm referring to. On the DVD menu, there's a option titled "キャラクターデータファイル" (or something like that) that shows you a one-minute long video with the character's tech specs and weapons. —Interrobang 14:18, 29 August 2011 (EDT)
Whoops, didn't know those were separate from the episodes. I've uploaded the proper caps as new versions of my previous uploads. I'll do the stats segment if you don't beat me to it. --Tigerpaw28 18:09, 29 August 2011 (EDT)
Done. Thank you! —Interrobang 18:13, 29 August 2011 (EDT)
You're welcome. --Tigerpaw28 18:20, 29 August 2011 (EDT)

Narrators

By my ear, the Beast Machines "coming this fall to Fox Kids" guy is not the "renegade beast machines" guy; the latter is pretty clearly Neil Ross to me, while the former I can't ID (though he sounds a little like Jess Harnell). Neither are the BM contest guy.

The RID toy announcer in the batch SirStack put up is Steve Blum. Not sure if he did all RID toy ads, though. --Monzo 22:34, 23 September 2012 (EDT)

I agree those first two aren't the same, that's me rushing through the end of that edit and not checking closely. The "renegade beast machines" guy does sound a little like Neil Ross but it doesn't totally match up to what I hear in the Micromaster Hot Rod Patrol ad (assuming it's a good example). All of the RID toy commercials we have clips for use the same announcer other than the first version of the Optimus Prime/Ultra Magnus ad, which seems more and more like it has a prototype soundtrack. Not familiar enough with Blum to know if it's him but if you're confident it's him and Ross, I'll go ahead and list them. --Tigerpaw28 21:55, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Mmm... no, I wouldn't call the Hot Rod Patrol ad a good example for Ross; that voice is closest the one he used for Fracas in Rebirth. The "renegade beast machines" line is in a voice closer to the one he used as Norman Osborn on Fox's 1990s Spider-Man cartoon (which may or may not have been intentional, considering). --Monzo 00:12, 26 September 2012 (EDT)

Teletraan-X Request

Hi there, in case you didn't already see this on discord, I have a possible request for Teletraan-X but I'm not sure how to go about it. I wanna redirect all of the links related to Jetfire (Armada) and Hot Shot (Armada)'s cartoon related stuff on any of the other character or lore object pages (like Matrix of Leadership or Space bridge for example), to their new respective pages (Jetfire (Armada) and Hot Shot (Armada)/Cartoon continuity). I just don't want it to end up changing all the links on every page to that because the events relating to the Dreamwave comics etc. can still be found on the main pages. Basically, anything under Cartoon continuity or whatever on those pages should be redirected but I'm not sure what pages have links to those pages that need to be changed.

I hope that made any sense lol. Please let me know if there is a way for Teletran-X to do that. I've done my best to try to find and fix as many of the links but it's proving to be a bigger job than I anticpated and I wanna make sure I can get as many of them as possible. Thanks :) Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 06:32, 30 November 2020 (EST)

Yeah, it makes sense and I did see it, just hadn't had time to respond yet. For reference, you can see what links to a page by going to that page and then clicking on "What links here" in the Toolbox underneath the search box in the sidebar. That said, it's going to require some thought to set up this job for Teletraan-X. I actually just finished a new link fix job so that we can actually fix links (the current text replacement capability is nearly useless for such a task). Your job needs some additional logic to be set up because we don't want to blanket replace all matching links. Only those links being used in a "cartoon" context. But defining that context in a way that a program can follow requires some thought because computers aren't good at interpreting human language. But I think if we can figure this out, it will be a useful starting point for a lot of other similar needs. So, let's figure out how we can define the rules for this job. From your description, I would start with:
  • 1. Link target should be "Jetfire (Armada)" or "Hot Shot (Armada)"
  • 2. Include any link found under a cartoon continuity header (Note we'll need to find out what the exact text of the header is and how many different headers we're dealing with, i.e. is it all Unicron Trilogy cartoon continuity or does it separate out between the three cartoons)
  • 3. All links on a page utilizing an episode template.
Rules 2 and 3 will cover most of our cases, but there's probably other cases to be considered. I'll have to pull up the list of linked pages and see what else we might need to watch out for. --Tigerpaw28 (talk) 18:44, 30 November 2020 (EST)

About your commercial screencaps with the 4:3 aspect ratio.

At least scale them down to 640x480 since this is the appropriate resolution. FigureGunplaFan (talk) 22:46, 14 December 2020 (EST)

BWII Galvatron

Hey, I didn't want to ping you out of the blue, so I thought I'd ask here: Is it alright if I replace your toy photography of BWII Galvatron? If you want to see the pics I took, I'll be more than happy to post them in #editing on Discord. Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 04:06, 22 May 2021 (EDT)

Have at it. I took those awhile back, before I had a lightbox I think. So I've no doubt you can improve upon them. --Tigerpaw28 (talk) 20:01, 22 May 2021 (EDT)

Headmaster commercial screencaps.

So good job on finding (or just uploading) better quality screencaps of that commercial. If you could, would you also update the screencaps featured in the notes sections of some of the Headmaster's pages (the ones comparing them to the model sheet for the early heads)?—DDog (talk) 10:50, 4 November 2021 (EDT)

Thanks. I do plan on getting to those once I finish updating the screencaps used on Commercial/Generation 1. I need to see about getting the images for the model sheets as just reusing it from the existing uploaded images might not look too good. --Tigerpaw28 (talk) 15:30, 4 November 2021 (EDT)
