Move to Steeljaw (IDW)

One could make the argument that we don't actually know what BWU Steel Jaw looks like, and is a Maximal rather than a Decepticon. Would it be so bad to have a "Steel Jaw (BWU)" page for the BW Maximal and a "Steeljaw (IDW)" page for the G1 transplant? Sure, they're both based on the RID'15 Decepticon, but looking over his appearances in "Derailment", the only physical descriptions we're given about him are that he used to be be an off-road truck before the Beast Upgrade, he's a luponoid after said upgrade, and his Maximal symbol has three scratches on it. He is based on RID Steeljaw in spirit, but for all we know he could be a redeco of Wolfang and no longer really resemble RID Steeljaw's robot mode design (unless Jim or someone said something on the matter). --Sabrblade (talk) 13:11, 27 June 2022 (EDT)

To be more specific on what I'm proposing, why don't we treat BWU Steel Jaw not as a continuity transplant of RID'15 Steeljaw, but as a continuity... let's say, "counterpart" of RID'15 Steeljaw? Like, say, he's the Beast Wars version of RID Steeljaw in the way that Armada Starscream is the Armada version of G1 Starscream. When reading "Derailment", Steel Jaw certainly felt inspired by the RID Decepticon, but didn't feel like a 1-to-1 exact recreation of him like how IDW Knock Out and BWU Thunderhoof were to Prime Knock Out and RID Thunderhoof, respectively. BWU Steel Jaw has a few characteristics of RID Steeljaw, sure, but he also felt more unique from him as his own character. More heroic and loyal than how RID Steeljaw was self-serving and ambitious to the point of willing to backstab his own teammates for personal glory (which actually further fits the comparison of Armada Starscream vs. G1 Starscream). And, again, his design in BWU is unknown (unless one of the creators said what he looks like).

Meanwhile, the Steeljaw from Last Bot Standing is definitely a direct continuity transplant of RID Steeljaw in both design and personality, and can remain as such with there being two articles. One for the Beast Wars Maximal "Steel Jaw (BWU)" and one for the G1 continuity transplant "Steeljaw (IDW)". --Sabrblade (talk) 15:05, 27 June 2022 (EDT)

This feels needlessly overcomplicated. Both BWU and LBS Steeljaw are based on RiD Steeljaw. Why do we need to split pages? Just retitle this page "Steeljaw (IDW)". S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 16:22, 28 June 2022 (EDT)

Barring certain specific circumstances we generally default to the first name used, FunPub and both IDW Thunderclashes all live happily under the "Thunder Clash" namespace, and I think the same can apply here. Grum (talk) 17:54, 28 June 2022 (EDT)
