Prime VS The Zombie Cons is an online game tying in with the Kre-O toyline. It was made available on Hasbro's web site in 2011.

Plot

Optimus Prime is tasked with single-handedly defending Phoenix from a horde of incoming Zombie Cons. The other Autobots occasionally para-drop supplies to assist him.

Gameplay

The game is a side-scrolling shooter, in which the player moves Optimus using the keyboard and aims using the mouse. Optimus is limited to the area between the Phoenix sign and a large puddle of unidentified green liquid over which the zombies approach. If the zombies get past Optimus and reach the other side of the play area, some portion of the Phoenix population is zombified and Optimus will find he has zombies coming at him from both directions.

Optimus wields the traditional zombie-fighting weapons — a pistol, a shotgun, a submachine gun, a heavy machine gun, and a chainsaw bayonet attached to a non-functional pistol. There are no limits placed on the amount of ammo Optimus can carry, but each weapon has a clip which forces Optimus to spend time reloading when it is exhausted. Optimus starts with 100 "spark", which goes down when he's hit by a zombie, and up when he grabs a health pack.

The zombies come in waves, and have four types: slow-moving legless crawling zombies, slow-moving organic zombies (sometimes), faster-moving walking zombies, and two freakin' zombies built into a car.

Notes

  • The zombies resemble Shockwave minus his helmet. It's unclear why, but it's possible it's yet another of Shockwave's experiments run amok.
  • There appear to be two versions of the game.
    • The version at Hasbro.com seems to be an earlier version, having no high scores, no apparent population on the counter of the Phoenix road sign, giving a standard gunfire sound for the pistol, using a grunting sound for when Prime is attacked, playing the sound of a woman screaming whenever a zombie reaches Phoenix, and featuring the organic zombie. The "Play again" button for the Hasbro version links to the KRE-O Nation version.
    • The KRE-O Nation version appears to be a later version, having high scores, a functional population counter (starting at "300") on the road sign, giving the pistol a laser sound effect, using an impact sound for when Prime is attacked, and omitting both the organic zombie and the screaming.
  • Regardless of which version is played, the zombified, er, zombies that appear from Phoenix always seem to be the walking, non-organic type.
  • Even if the population of Phoenix downs to zero, the game still continues.
