Schrödinger's Box (シュレディンガーの箱 Shuredingā no Hako), a capsule composed of unknown elements, was one of several items of Cybertronian origin on Earth gathered by the Intelligence and Information Institute. Its purpose and exact origins were unknown to the humans who possessed it—it is actually the flight recorder of Ravage's transwarp cruiser from the Beast Wars. Among the information contained within is a copy of Ravage's consciousness, downloaded before his untimely death.

Fiction

Story of Binaltech

Before his death during the Beast Wars set in Earth's past, The Agenda (Part III) Ravage downloaded a copy of his personality into his ship's flight recorder, which survived the ship's spectacular destruction. Millennia after the Beast Wars, the recorder was found by the Intelligence and Information Institute. Only being able to determine it was of Transformer origin, the Institute dubbed the mysterious capsule "Schrödinger's Box".

After the dissolution of the Institute, Schrödinger's Box remained in the possession of former Institute staff who later used technology obtained from the Transformers to analyze the Box. Within it, they discovered the future consciousness of the Decepticon Ravage, and that it was a flight recorder from a starship centuries into the future. The consciousness from within the Box worked with the former III staff to bring about a new Binaltech body for himself in the X-9 Revival Plan. Having obtained his body and finding that his efforts in the Beast Wars were for naught, Ravage destroyed all evidence of his existence, including presumably Schrödinger's Box. Ghosts of the Past
