Megatron (Kre-O)

From Transformers Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search
The name or term "Megatron" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Megatron (disambiguation).
Megatron is a Decepticon from the brick-built world of Kre-O.

Megatron has a reputation for being a bad guy. Mostly it is because he is a diabolically evil commander. If people knew the softer side of him, they might change their minds. But, then again, the softer side of him includes his love of crushing Autobots... so maybe not.

Megatron has a swing on the front porch of his building where he likes to read the Kreon Kode. He prefers seafood restaurants that give you a mallet to crush crabs. The thought of being lost in a box of random Kre-O bricks scares him.

He also loves grilled cheese.

Megatron fought Optimus Prime and lost to a blast from Prime's blaster. He quickly rebuilt himself and tagged Starscream in. Last Bot Standing Megatron was also a judge at a dance competition, where he gave Bumblebee a bad score of -10, yet gave Starscream's terrible performance a ridiculously high score of 1048279 by taping his score cards together. Bot Stars

Megatron took part in a road race and ended up jockeying for position with Bumblebee. Unfortunately, an attempt by Starscream to take the Autobot out with a boulder backfired, and it was Megatron who ended up in pieces instead. The Big Race During the holiday season, Megatron started unwrapping his gifts, which were mostly guns. Finally, he noticed a large present and ripped open the wrapping to find that it was a Bumblebee Kre-O set. After Megatron assembled it into a car, it promptly transformed into Bumblebee and punched him. A Gift For Megatron

Outraged at his constant defeats, Megatron went on a training binge with some help from Starscream and the other Decepticon Kreons. He was about to head up to the top of the Kre-O Museum's steps in triumph, but ended up being run over and effortlessly defeated by Bumblebee, with Ratchet adding further injury by accidentally running him over while he was rebuilding himself. Megatron's Revenge

Megatron had Spinister, Scorponok and Galvatron steal some energon for him from the Autobot City Bank. He later used it to power up a weapon. Quest for Energon, Part 1 While his men were using the weapon to make a grilled cheese sandwich for him, their work site was invaded by Wheeljack and Cliffjumper. Megatron advanced on them, only to find they were a diversion—Optimus and Bumblebee took control of the weapon and used it on Megatron and his men before wrapping them up in a net. Quest for Energon, Part 2

Megatron led an enormous army of Vehicons in a battle against the Autobots... until Optimus began recapping the live-action film series to the audience. When Optimus got to the second film, Megatron interrupted the Autobot's monologue, only to be threatened at gun point. During the recap of the third film, Megatron interjected once more, this time to say that it had been a bad idea on the humans' part to join forces with the Decepticons. The fighting resumed when a pepperoni pizza was delivered to the battlefield. Take Us to the Movies Take Us Through the Movies

A vengeance seeking Megatron attacked Optimus Prime while he was working at a hibachi restaurant.Hibachi Chef

Megatron fought against Optimus Prime, combined with his Mini Kreons, and managed to overpower the Autobot leader. When Optimus took off to find where Bumblebee, his back-up, had gone to, he found his subordinate stuck in a tree. The robot's weight caused the tree to collapse on Optimus, at which point Megatron stepped in and declared himself victorious. Stuck in a Tree

Kre-O online comic

After seeing the Autobots leave in the Ark in search of energy blocks, Megatron became infuriated at this apparent attempt to hoard the energy blocks to themselves. With his Decepticons, Megatron set out on the Nemesis, which caught up with the Ark and allowed the Decepticons to board the Autobot ship. However, this caused the ship to crash onto Earth sending the Transformers into a four million year-long sleep. When they woke, Megatron strangled Starscream for not setting the alarm. Kreon Story

Setting out to conquer the world, Megatron demanded all of the Earth's blocks and transformed a tank into Mega-Megatron to help him in his fiendish plot. However, the Autobots arrived and made a jail for Mega-Megatron out of the blocks Megatron collected. Defend the Blocks! Autobots, Dispatch!

After being soundly defeated in a battle with Optimus, Megatron limped back to Decepticon Base, but his lookout, Vortex, refused to let anybody in till Megatron actually returned to the base, including Megatron himself. Desperate, Megatron called Optimus to bring his Autobots to attack the base and chase away Vortex. The attack successful, Megatron welcomed the Autobots to a gathering inside the base, an action which Megatron regretted. A Reliable Warrior!? Vortex the Lookout from Hell

Megatron faced-off against Optimus on the battlefield once more, though this time Optimus trounced him easily thanks to the "See-Through Power" granted to him by the substance "Skeletron." Megatron was enraged that his rival had gained such an advantage over him, and ordered Knock Out to provide him with "See-Through Power" as well. The Decepticon medic's solution was to dress Megatron in a woman's pink see-through negligee. Megatron rushed out in his new accouterments, only to find himself a laughingstock of the Autobots. Megatron returned to base and punched Knock Out in the face for his part in embarrassing him. Wheeljack's Bizarre Invention! Optimus Power Up!?

Megatron assembled some of the most powerful Decepticon warriors and led them with his "Mega-Megatron" robot through the city street, to conquer the Autobots' base. He was shocked to find his latest plan thwarted before it even got under way when Optimus plowed through his ranks with his truck. The Autobot leader then transformed his vehicle into a likeness of his robot mode to take down Megatron's mech as well. Turns out, Optimus had really needed to go to the washroom, and had taken down all of the Decepticons to clear a path to it. After his business was done, Optimus decided to tie up all of the Decepticons strewn about and bring them to the picnic the Autobots were having. Emergency! Hurry to the Base, Optimus!

Megatron sent out the Constructicons to sabotage the Autobots' construction of their newest base, Scramble City. By combining into Devastator, the Constructicons managed to inflict some damage, but were defeated when the Autobots found Devastator's weakspot: his ticklish feet! To prevent this from ever happening again, Megatron decided to have the Constructicons build up an immunity to their ticklishness. He had them tied up so his other troops could tickle them continuously back at their base. A New Menace! The Giant Soldier Devastator Appears!

Starscream called Megatron over to show off his new recruits, the Combaticons! Unfortunately, Vortex was so neurotic about keeping watch over the Decepticons' base that the whole team was forced to leave the battlefield to join him in guard-duty. Megatron thus arrived to the battlefield with no new troops in sight, annoying him greatly. New Military Unit Combaticon! Bruticus, Combine! Megatron later led another new unit, the Predacons, in attacking the Autobot base. Their assault in animal mode went well, so he had them combine into Predaking... who was on the other hand easily defeated. Behemoth Combination! But They're Cute? The Predacon Unit

Megatron led the Decepticons on yet another assault when the Autobots were celebrating the completion of their base. He and his troops quickly managed to take control of the base, gave it a new coat of paint, and rechristened the transforming city Metrotitan! But as soon as it assumed its robot mode, it began falling apart... Optimus admitted to Megatron that the Autobots had gotten the munchies throughout construction, and had eaten a block here and there, resulting in flimsy construction. Megatron was devastated, but the Autobots rebuilt the whole thing in short order, even including a room for Megatron so he could stay over! Megatron later came over to Optimus's room (next to his own!) to challenge the Autobot leader to battle! The pair wound up playing "Old Maid" instead. Two Giant Bases! Everybody Getting Along, Come On, Fight!

Megatron then stole Optimus Prime's component blocks and used them to build C-X and the Alligaticon, but fled when Prime was able to remotely take back control of them. Negligence Is the Greatest Enemy! Optimus Became a Monster!? His next plan was to build a solar power tower and gather enough energy and blocks to take over Earth, then integrate the world's blocks into his own body to conquer the universe! Unfortunately, his plans were dashed when he ordered three combiners to place a big effigy of his own face on the tower, leading to them falling over and toppling it. Megatron's Ambition!? The Solar Tower Is Built! Knock Out later offered Megatron a new helmet to power him up, but it also twisted his personality, turning him into the crazed Galvatron until Optimus Prime removed the helmet. Enter the New Emperor of Destruction!? Stop Galvatron's Rampage!

At one point, Megatron was defeated in battle with Optimus Prime, but the sight of Airachnid attempting to defect to Prime's side and calling Megatron "old news" enraged him so badly he defeated Prime by trying to fire at her. In the aftermath, Airachnid calmed him by claiming it had all been part of her plan. The Beautiful Flower Has Thorns? Temptation of the Female Soldier, Airachnid! By spreading clones of Soundwave among the humans, Megatron hoped to use music to brainwash them into following him, leading to a musical battle between Soundwave and Jazz. The ensuing tunes ended up calming Megatron, and, realizing it was the season of cherry blossoms, he stopped fighting for the day and enjoyed a flower-viewing picnic instead. Soundwave's Trap? Stop Operation Brainwash Humanity! Megatron was later accidentally sent to an alien planet where everything was giant, and battled the Autobots in a bid to conquer this world as well. He agreed to stop and go back home after Optimus Prime warned him that if he didn't return, his troops would forget about him. Robots in Disguise! The Transformers Are by Your Side!?

Commercial appearances

  • Megatron was part of an epic battle in a desert against the Autobots. Though Optimus managed to smash his arm, Megatron simply rebuilt it (now with a blaster instead of a hand) from the scattered pieces. Bumblebee managed to land a solid punch on Megatron's face, but the battle continued raging fiercely nonetheless. KRE-O TRANSFORMERS teaser trailer
  • The Tank Driver managed to snatch a Dark Energon crystal from a bank vault, which Megatron took for himself. But before Megatron could contemplate his prize, he was sucker-punched by Optimus. The two fought throughout the city streets, with Optimus eventually coming out on top and taking the crystal away from Megatron. Megatron's Kreon was then tossed into a jail cell by Optimus's Kreon. • Megatron (2011)
    • Set number: 30688
    • Pieces: 310
    • Kreons: Megatron, Shockwave, Specialist, Police officer
    • Accessories: Megatron arm-cannon
The large Megatron kit can be rebuilt from a robot into what resembles a Mack truck loosely based upon his Movie counterpart's appearance in the third live-action film. In truck mode, up to two Kreons can ride in the front of the cab, or be locked up in a cramped prison cell at the back of the cab. The truck also features a functioning trailer hitch. In robot mode, Megatron features hands with articulated claw fingers (built on top of a pair of regular fists), a shoulder-mounted pressure-launched missile launcher, as well as a small, rotating, back-mounted prison "box" of sorts.
The Kreon Megatron that comes with the set has a helmet based around his the live-action movie Megatron, but from the neck down he is very, very much modeled after the original Generation 1 Megatron, complete with arm-mounted cannon. The set also comes with Kreons of Shockwave, and a human Specialist and Police Officer. The additional Kreon-wieldable items include a scoped rifle, a pistol, a suitcase, a walkie-talkie, a sub-machine gun, and a pair of handcuffs.
Like many other Kre-O sets, the stock photography and package art feature robot construction that differs from the final product, as Megatron's upper arms have several of the extraneous parts, mainly his truck cab doors, added to the construction. Whether this is due to a change in the design or the photographers creative liberty with the figure is left to be seen. The sticker sheet also features an unused sticker depicting a bolted metal panel with an amusing message ("OPTIMUS PRIME WAS HERE! Symbol autobot reg.png") scrawled on it, although its shape and coloration suggest that it's meant to go on the back wall of the prison cell.

  • Battle for Energon (2012)
    • Set number: 98812
    • Pieces: 379
    • Kreons: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Security Officer, Tank Driver
    • Accessories: Blade
This set's Megatrons are based more on the Prime incarnation... mostly. The larger Megatron is a smaller, simpler build than the first big kit, and makes use of ball-and-socket parts for increased articulation. It can be rebuilt into a tank (rather reminiscent of Revenge of the Fallen Megatron), The Megatron Kreon's tampographs are based directly on the Prime cartoon model, and his right hand has been replaced by a clear-purple curved blade. He also has a clear-purple extra "energon" torso piece.
This set also comes with a Optimus Prime truck/robot build, a miniature bank playset with opening/breakaway vault to hold the set's "ultimate Dark Energon weapon" piece (though it also contains stickers that can make the bank into a museum), and Kreons of Prime-styled Megatron, a human Security Officer and evil human Tank Driver.

  • Megatron (Custom Kreon, 2013)
    • Set number: A6088
    • Pieces: 36
    • Accessories: Rack, Megatron arm-cannon, bazooka, Cobra Commander pistol, wing-pack, claw attachment, double-bladed staff
Part of the first assortment of "Custom Kreons", this version of Megatron comes with a buildable parts rack on which to hang/store his many many extra pieces. His tampographs are much more heavily-detailed than the original Kreon, based on the original Megatron toy. His "normal" helmet and arm cannon are chromed, plus he comes with an extra clear-plastic helmet, torso and legs. He also has a pair of extra arms and a wing-pack (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens), plus a buildable bazooka, a small pistol (originally Cobra Commander's from the Kre-O G.I. Joe series), a claw-attachment for his wrists, and a double-headed staff weapon.
The cross-sell advertisement from the back of the packaging features a bizarre error: Soundwave and Starscream had their names swapped, with Starscream using Megatron's name.

  • Kreon Class of 1984 (Kreon figure set, 2014)
    • Set number: B0090
    • Voted: Best Frenemies (With Starscream)
    • Accessories: Clip-on Megatron cannon
The Kreon Class of 1984 version of Megatron is even more toy-based tampographs than his prior versions, including his face detailing. Yes, it's a whole new tampograph layout. He's also mostly in metallic silver plastic, yet his helmet remains light flat gray.
He was only available in a pack of 30 Kreons dubbed the "Kreon Class of 1984". This set was made for sale at San Diego Comic-Con 2014. Remaining stock was to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, only there was no remaining stock after the show.

  • Brick Box (2015)
    • Set number: B2961
    • Pieces: 88
    • Accessories: Arm cannon
Sold only at discount chains like Family Dollar, this version of Megatron uses the new 2015 style of Kreon hips and torso, with a hollow hip-peg and a central post inside the torso for increased grip... which also makes them incompatible with about four years' worth of Kreons. He also features entirely new face and chest tampographs.
The set comes with two bags of Kre-O parts, one coming from the first-year Starscream kit (mostly all the small bits and landing gear), the other "new" with some basic bricks and plates. The set has no instructions, as it's just a box of bricks to make whatever with.

Age of Extinction

  • Megatron (Kreon 4-pack, 2014)
    • Accessories: Arm Cannon
Available exclusively at the gift shop in Transformers: The Ride, This Kreon of Megatron is based on the first three live-action movies. He comes packaged with live action movie versions of Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Evac.
Where the other park-exclusive toys can be purchased through Universal's online store, the Kre-O 4-Pack is only available at the park proper at the time of this writing. So uh, good luck.

Gashapon

Kre-O-Gashapon-Megatron.jpg
  • Megatron (Transformers Kreon Gashapon, 2013)
    • Accessories: Cobra Commander pistol
In late 2014, twelve Kreons were sold through TakaraTomy's "TakaraTomy A.R.T.S" Gacha capsule-toy machines in Japan. Thankfully for the rest of the world, these Kreons are all basically identical to previously-released ones in the Hasbro lines. The Gacha release of Megatron is basically the base Custom Kreon Megatron using his clear-plastic helmet and carrying the Cobra Commander pistol, lacking his fusion cannon (and of course all those other parts and accessories).

Kreon Warriors

KreO-toy MegatronKW Knight.jpg
  • Knight Megatron (Kreon Warrior, January 2015)
    • Accessories: Sword, shield, display plate
Part of the first series of blindbagged Kreon Warriors, Megatron is a Kreon with tampographs that approximate Generation 1 Megatron's body armor with elements that resemble medieval armor. Amusingly, he wears his sword on his arm (as if it were a fusion cannon) rather than holding it in his hand. Most of his accessories and armor come from the Kre-O Dungeons & Dragons series.
Unfortunately, the Kreon Warriors all came in bags that completely lack any way to identify the contents, forcing buyers to use the "feel through the bag" method to determine what's inside.
Like all Kreon Warriors, Megatron was never released in the United States.

KreO-toy MegatronKW Ninja.jpg
  • Ninja Megatron (Kreon Warrior, January 2015)
    • Accessories: Sickle, 2 pegged shuriken, display plate
Part of the first series of Kreon Warriors, Ninja Megatron depicts the Decepticon leader done up in a ninja motif (because when you think "stealth", you think Megatron, right?). In lieu of a fusion cannon, he wears a scythe on his arm. He features a ninja star affixed to each leg.
Like all Kreon Warriors, Megatron was never released in the United States.

KreO-toy MegatronKW WildWest.jpg
  • Wild West Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2015)
    • Accessories: Dynamite, clip-on gatling gun, display plate
Part of the second series of Kreon Warriors, Wild West Megatron is a steampunk-cowboy version of the Decepticon Leader. He features a purple scarf, wagon wheels on his legs, a small payload of dynamite, and wears a gatling gun on his arm where his fusion cannon would be.
Like all Kreon Warriors, Megatron saw no United States release. Tarnation!

KreO-toy MegatronKW Samurai.jpg
  • Samurai Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2015)
    • Accessories: 2 katana, display plate
Part of the second series of Kreon Warriors, Samurai Megatron is, as his name implies, a samurai-themed version of Megatron with paint operations that approximate his robotic elements as samurai armor. He wears a mount on his back which can hold his two katana, and wears a wagon wheel on each leg.
As with the rest of the Kreon Warriors, Samurai megatron was never released in the United States.

  • Army Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2016)
    • Accessories: gun, grenade, flame effect, gas mask, display plate
Part of the canceled third series of Kreon Warriors, Army Megatron would have been a World War II-era themed Megatron. He includes a purple gas mask and a flame effect for his cannon weapon, as well as a small grenade.
Although no Kreon Warriors were ever released in the United States, the third wave was never released anywhere, however many finished and bagged samples made their way onto the secondary market.
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.

Proceed on your way to oblivion.
This item has been canceled, with no current plans for release.

  • Pirate Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2016)
    • Accessories: Sword, clip-on cannon, display plate
Part of the canceled third series of Kreon Warriors, Pirate Megatron was to be a salty sea-dog version of Megatron complete with a Decepticon-Jolly Roger tampographed on his chest. He wears an iron cannon on his arm where his fusion cannon would usually be were he not a pirate.

  • Gladiator Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2016)
    • Accessories: Clip-on blade, spiked chain-flail, display plate
Part of the canceled fourth series of Kreon Warriors, Gladiator Megatron brings the Decepticon back to his roots, only now more ornate. And yes, he has his spiked chain-flail, hand-held now.
The Collection 4 Kreon Warriors were never released anywhere, but a complete (presumably unbagged) set eventually was found in China in 2023.
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.

Proceed on your way to oblivion.
This item has been canceled, with no current plans for release.

  • Wiseguy Megatron (Kreon Warrior, 2016)
    • Accessories: Clip-on cannon, flaming drink, display plate
Part of the canceled fourth series of Kreon Warriors, Wiseguy Megatron has a wild hairstyle and a very "1920s boiler" vibe. He's also carrying a flaming vial/cocktail.
The Collection 4 Kreon Warriors were never released anywhere, but a complete (presumably unbagged) set eventually was found in China in 2023.
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.

Proceed on your way to oblivion.
