Don't tell him he doesn't have his back cannon, or he'll shoot the text down below!

Megatron arose from Cybertron's gladiatorial arenas, and has never forgotten the lessons that he learned there. Not only is he utterly ruthless in combat, unafraid to fight dirty, and able to brutally put down any would-be pretenders to the throne, but in his new career as Decepticon leader he's able to effortlessly spin rhetoric, work a crowd, and carefully indulge his theatrical side to gain supporters. But despite his natural charisma, Megatron dreams of a new era when all of Cybertron is united under one banner—an era when he'll no longer have to rely on the disparate, dysfunctional personalities that comprise the Decepticons to enforce his will upon the galaxy.

Megatron may be a tyrant, but he's no slavering monster—he knows when to advance, when to retreat, and even respects his former friend Optimus Prime enough to enter into occasional peace talks. And, somewhere far beneath his exterior, there still pulses the spark of a humble 'bot who just wanted what was best for Cybertron... a trait that's both his greatest strength and his biggest shortcoming.

There's a little of him in all of us.

Eons ago, Megatron was a gladiatorial champion on Cybertron, besting numerous powerful opponents, including Devastator Maximus whose brain module he crushed. Trials While Megatron's raw strength served him well in the gladiatorial pits, it was his charisma which netted him a large following of admirers from all flocks of life. Megatron Is My Hero Among his followers was Optimus, a file clerk who began to author Megatron's speeches to his following. Maccadam's At a rally, Megatron dubbed his movement 'Decepticons', and swore to create a new Cybertron that would bring equal rights to all citizens. As his power base grew however, Megatron's personality took a darker turn, eventually declaring open war on Optimus and his own followers. Megatron Is My Hero Megatron watched the beatboxing match between Soundwave and Soundblaster, and declared Soundwave the new champion upon his victory. The Immobilizers

Among Megatron's early acts was the execution of the High Council. Matrix of Leadership Once Shadow Striker had captured Optimus Prime, she intended to ship him to Megatron until Bumblebee freed his leader. Shadowstriker Megatron selected Deadlock to act as a spy for the Decepticons. Battle For Cybertron III To sell the ruse, Megatron followed him to Maccadam's where he attempted to slay the traitor to serve as an example to others. Before he could however, Maccadam stormed into the room and transformed into his monstrous alternate mode, the mere sight of it cowing Megatron into retreating. Maccadam's Over the course of the war, Megatron would meet with Optimus several times to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict but the two were unable to come to a satisfactory compromise. Parley Megatron also befriended the poetic Decepticon Sky-Byte. Infinite Vendetta

"Imagine seven million people all wanting to die together."

Once the Decepticons had taken Vector Sigma, Megatron sought to use the supercomputer to reprogram the AllSpark and have it birth a new generation of loyal Decepticons. When Bumblebee discovered this, he was brought before Megatron who sadistically tore out the scout's voice box to prevent him from reporting what he'd learned. Megatron Is My Hero Despite Megatron's best efforts, the Autobots did manage to learn of his plan, managing to seize the AllSpark and send it through a space bridge. Allspark

In the year 2007, Megatron tracked the AllSpark to Earth, and sent Slipstream's Seeker squad there to retrieve it. Catching wind of this intel, the Autobots on Cybertron sent Windblade to retrieve the artifact first only for her to come across the missing Bumblebee. Upon learning that her friend was suffering from amnesia, the cityspeaker attempted to use a cortical psychic patch to help him make sense of his memories. Among them was an undamaged memory of Megatron; however she was unable to access it before the patch malfunctioned and shut her out. Fractured

Once Windblade had begun making headway in fixing Bumblebee's mind, the scout began to remember Megatron in the earliest days of his revolution causing him to idealize the Decepticon leader as a hero. With Windblade's help however, he was able to remember the tyrant Megatron had become, being left to wonder how he could have ever considered the Decepticon someone to look up to. "Now back there if you got a problem you tell Wally. And he tells everyone in town, brings it out in the open, no more problem."

After Slipstream had consistently failed in her mission, Shockwave hacked into Bumblebee's cortical psychic patch and trapped the scout in a false memory that painted him as a Decepticon spy aboard the Ark who had sabotaged the ship at Megatron's direct order. Sabotage

When the Decepticon fleet invaded Earth, Megatron led the Nemesis to the organic planet. Eruption Bad Moon Rising The Cybertronians eventually became known to humankind. During a battle against Windblade, Megatron was caught on camera tripping over a powerline, winning the dubious honor of #3 on TOP3WEEKLY's "TOP ROBOT FAILS!!" video. Sea of Tranquility During this time, he also dueled Optimus Prime at an industrial complex, their battle being observed by Cheetor. Spotted

Just kids having fun.

Eventually, Megatron decided that Earth wasn't worth conquering and ordered a Planet Smasher built on the moon. When a battle broke out, Megatron first used his tank mode to shoot up the Autobots before Optimus Prime engaged him in melee combat, the Autobot managing to score a nasty gash on Megatron's right leg, prompting the tyrant to call Starscream for air support. Though his order went unheeded, Megatron managed to escape the battle and make it to the force field. After tossing Starscream around, he demoted him by making Slipstream the new leader of the Seekers. When the Autobots brought down the Planet Smasher's force field, Megatron ordered the Decepticons to retreat into a lunar bunker. Sea of Tranquility

In the bunker's control room, Shockwave activated his back-up plan of using planetary engines to slam the moon into the Earth so they could find the AllSpark in the debris field. Content with the plan, Megatron tried to order Slipstream to guard the Nemesis before his wound got the better of him. As he tried to get back up, a furious Starscream attacked him, firing all his missiles at point-blank range before beating the tyrant into stasis lock, ordering that he be left behind when the control room was set to self-destruct. Surviving the explosion, though left heavily charred by it, Megatron made his way back to his flagship and enacted a swift and brutal vengeance against Starscream, ending with him firing the full might of his fusion cannon at the Seeker's back, deactivating him. After briefly regarding Starscream's prone form, he dumped the traitor's body out onto the lunar surface and ordered the Decepticons away from the moon. Bad Moon Rising

Ordering his flagship down on an island, Megatron broadcasted a propaganda video to the human race regarding Starscream's demise, before he offered the position of second-in-command to whichever one of his troops brought him the head of Optimus Prime. When Clobber and Lockdown brought him the bound Hot Rod, Megatron tried to use the Autobot as a bargaining chip with Optimus only for the youth to break free from his bonds and escape the Nemesis. Though Megatron targeted the Autobot with the onboard weapons, he was distracted by the sight of a creature jumping through a GroundBridge. Bring Me The Spark Of Optimus Prime

After every GroundBridge had been mapped, the AllSpark was located in Africa, Megatron stepping through a portal to collect it. Finding not only that his troops had not accompanied him but Optimus waiting for him, Megatron briefly dueled his opposite before they were both greeted by Cheetor, Guardian of the AllSpark who subjected both leaders to the "the trials" to determine who was worthy of the AllSpark. After a failed knowledge trial, Cheetor granted each leader spark armor, Megatron's formed from a helicopter, and they came to blows. Megatron eventually got the upper hand, pinning Optimus down for execution only for the Prime to hold him at gunpoint, being willing to kill them both. As this happened, no one noticed a still alive Starscream sneak in and steal the AllSpark until it was too late. Though he managed to save face with Optimus, Megatron returned to the Nemesis to commence a search for Starscream. Trials

As Shockwave tried to locate the missing Vector Sigma, the Nemesis came under attack from the Autobots, Megatron sending out his entire drone force to meet them. As Megatron dueled Optimus on the hangar deck, Cheetor loudly announced that the AllSpark was not on the ship, forcing Megatron to reveal the truth and cursing Cheetor, whose lunar GroundBridge had healed Starscream's otherwise fatal injuries. Dark Birth

Agreeing to peace talks, Megatron had the Nemesis return to Mount St. Hilary for negotiations. Despite their soldiers' idiosyncrasies, Megatron and Optimus made initial strides only for discussions to abruptly end when Grimlock threw Shockwave through a wall and onto the negotiation table, Megatron ordering his troops away. Parley

When the Nemesis returned to its island, it came under attack from Starscream's scraplet horde. Fighting his traitorous second on the bridge, Megatron was paralyzed by the beasts but managed to send out a garbled distress signal. When Cheetor defeated Starscream and broke the paralysis, Megatron allowed the Autobots to go free. Starscream's Children As the ship was slowly repaired, Megatron chose to motivate Shockwave to speed up the process by threatening to replace him with Soundwave. Megatron soon came under attack from Shockwave's severed hand before the scientist himself arrived, presenting Megatron with a drone controller that he could use to control Starscream's creatures. Secret Science

When Shockwave explained the perfected drone controller, the Nemesis came under attack from Jetfire. Unamused, Megatron told the bombastic Autobot to go play somewhere else. Soon afterwards, a still alive Sky-Byte arrived, recounting the gloriousness of the civilizations he'd destroyed before requesting the Decepticons' aid to destroy Jetfire (offering Megatron the head). Though an appealing prospect to Megatron, he denied to get involved in favour of continuing their search for the AllSpark. Jetfire soon returned, now clad in spark armor, and abducted Megatron. When Optimus called to reveal he'd had a similar encounter with Sky-Byte, Megatron directed everyone to meet a colosseum. Encouraging the two arch-enemies to settle their feud once and for all, Megatron amusedly watched Jetfire and Sky-Byte kill each other even as their fight unearthed magma deposits. When Jetfire got the upper hand, Megatron encouraged the Autobot to strike the killing blow only for him to retreat back to the Ark so that Optimus' wounds could be tended to. As Sky-Byte climbed out of the hole, Megatron held him a gunpoint and forced him to reveal the AllSpark's location. Infinite Vendetta

Cyberverse I Am The Allspark Megatron.jpg

When Sky-Byte led the Decepticons back to the GroundBridge nexus, Megatron again found the Autobots had beaten him there before an AllSpark empowered Starscream arrived, arresting everyone's motor functions and forcing them to bow before him. Unimpressed by the Seeker's pettiness, Megatron openly mocked his former second's incompetence and failing streak before the Seeker began extracting all their sparks. Salvation came when Optimus Prime unleashed the Matrix of Leadership on Starscream, blasting the AllSpark out of him. Quick to recover, Megatron retrieved the artifact only to be assaulted by the now feral scraplets, losing his hold on it. Megatron soon found himself fighting Grimlock, with their duel destabilizing the chamber. Though Megatron managed to initially kick the Dinobot away and make a last-ditch effort to get the AllSpark he was blindsided by the recovered Grimlock who sent him hurtling down a chasm. I Am The Allspark

Detecting the launch of several Autobot shuttles, Megatron ordered the Nemesis to meet them, deploying several Decepticon scout ships to engage the smaller crafts. Though the Autobot ships were quickly destroyed, the AllSpark was not found in their debris field. Fortunately for the Decepticons, Sky-Byte had seen through the ruse and launched a one-bot attack on the Ark, giving the Nemesis enough time to intercept. Ordering the Ark destroyed, Megatron unleashed the full might of the Nemesis on its Autobot counterpart only for Cheetor to heal it with the AllSpark allowing the nimbler ship to slip past. To prevent the Autobots from entering Earth's space bridge, Shockwave used a hard-light hologram to simulate its destruction, the Ark instead rocketing off into deep space. Pleased with Shockwave's ploy, Megatron ordered the Nemesis through the portal and to Cybertron. Escape From Earth

Megatron eventually managed to convert the Threshold of the Well into his personal fortress and capture Chromia, forcing her to send out a false distress call to the Ark by threatening to offline Perceptor. When the Autobot ship emerged from Cybertron's space bridge, Megatron praised the Autobot femme before rallying his troops for battle. The Crossroads Battle For Cybertron I

As the Ark entered the atmosphere, Megatron ordered it destroyed via a laser snare before the Autobots revealed themselves to still be alive, having anticipated the attack. Ordering the whole of his army into action, Megatron led the charge in the final battle of the Great War, initially providing artillery with Alpha Strike before he squared off against Optimus. Battle For Cybertron II Optimus eventually managed to push past Megatron, only for the Prime to discover the scraplet trap that Megatron had laid. Pressing his advantage, Megatron pinned his foe against a wall before he called in upscaled, war-ready versions of Shockwave's drones to surround the Autobots. Battle For Cybertron III

However, the Autobots managed to push past the drones, just as they both destroyed Vector Sigma and returned the AllSpark to Cybertron's core. Though Optimus declared this the end of the Great War, Megatron refused to surrender, and ordered Shockwave to destroy the AllSpark. While Shockwave was able to corrupt the artefact, Cheetor sacrificed himself to re-purify it, bringing life and peace back to Cybertron. Enraged, Megatron lunged at Optimus only to be sent flying back into his own scraplet trap. Battle For Cybertron IV

This would not be the end of Megatron, however. When the Quintessons invaded Cybertron, Megatron was among the Transformers captured and subjected to their virtual reality as his spark was drained. Within the simulation, Megatron was Grand Marshal of a parade that celebrated his victory over the Autobots. When Dead End broke free, he found Megatron's body and tried to physically free him from the loop to no avail. The Dead End Perceptor managed to free the Cybertronian race by hacking into the parade's source code and introducing a flock of Air Hammers, everyone retreating from the compound to Maccadam's. The Scientist

Even after it was found that the Quintessons were draining the AllSpark to gestate their new Judge, Megatron refused to fight alongside the Autobots. The Alliance Sulking in Iaconus's stasis hold, Megatron was approached by Dead End who brought news that the Quintessons had the technology to traverse the multiverse. Eager to steal the multiverse drive and conquer other realities, Megatron joined in the attack on the Quintesson ship. When the group found the drive, they were confronted by the Scientist whom Megatron promptly shot dead only for the alien to reveal multiple backup bodies. Contemptuously blasting a path through them all, Megatron led Wheeljack and Dead End to the Judge's escape ship where the two Decepticons threw out the Autobot before sailing away into the multiverse. The Judge

Travelling eternity, Megatron reformatted himself into a Cybertronian vehicle mode and gained the ability to manipulate exotic energy. The End Of The Universe IV In one universe, Megatron encountered a version of himself that had won the Great War. Horrified by his counterpart, Megatron stole his Matrix of Leadership, losing an optic in the process, and fled back to his native reality with his counterpart's servants, Astrotrain and the Insecticons. Silent Strike Arriving back home to find that Starscream was the new Quintesson Judge, Megatron combined the power of his stolen Matrix with its local counterpart, their energy overwhelming Starscream and finally killing him. Knowing that his alternate self would come looking for him, Megatron declared a ceasefire and ordered the Autobots to one half of Cybertron while he and his forces would occupy the other. The End Of The Universe IV

As Megatron began his preparations for the arrival of "the Other One", Bumblebee and Whirl were discovered in Decepticon territory. Though Megatron was ready to execute them for this, Optimus pointed out that the Decepticons' holding of Windblade constituted its own treaty violation. Not having the time to deal with this, Megatron agreed to release the Autobots. Enemy Line When the former Autobot Wildwheel began making his way through Decepticon territory, Megatron confronted him when he caused a ruckus while riding on Kickback. Hearing that Wildwheel wanted Optimus, Megatron led him to the border, across which he could find his former commander, and offered the turncoat a spot in the Decepticons if he survived. Wild Wild Wheel To make ready for the coming fight, Megatron assigned Dead End and Astrotrain to construct a weapon capable of blasting its targets to unspace. Rack 'n' Ruin 'n' Ratchet

Cyberverse TheOtherOne Megatron.jpg

As the battle neared, Megatron attempted to have the spirits of the alternate Thirteen aid him to no avail. Despite acquiring a handheld version of the dimensional ray from Astrotrain, the Insecticons decided to cut their losses and fled Cybertron. Returning to the control room, Megatron ordered the dimensional shields raised when the Other One's Decepticon supersoldiers began teleporting in. Soon afterwards, the Autobots arrived, Optimus claiming that Megatron's Matrix had to be destroyed, only for the tyrant to call in his favour for aid before the master race of Decepticons materialized. Silent Strike

After explaining that the invaders were Decepticon supersoldiers under the command of the Other One, Megatron bestowed multiversal energy on his troops, allowing them to defeat the invaders. When another wave teleported in, Megatron blasted them to unspace using his personal dimensional ray. Lowering his guard, Megatron was then attacked by the Other One when he arrived. Disarmed of his new weapon, he was mortally wounded by his stronger counterpart, who soon telekinetically ripped the Matrix from his body, deactivating him. Megatron's last words were an encouragment towards Optimus to defeat his alternate self. The Other One

Tiny Turbo Changers

(thumbnail)
His activation code is "baby mode!"
  • Megatron (Tiny Turbo Changers, 2019)
    • Series: 1, 2, 5
    • Bag Code: J (Series 1-2), G (Series 5)
Released in Series 1 of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Megatron changes from a stubby little tank to a robot in a few steps. Like many of his other toys, he features an "energon mace" molded in place of his left hand.
Megatron was also released without changes in Series 2 and 5.

Scout Class

(thumbnail)
You call that a tank?
  • Megatron (Scout Class, 2018, 2020, 2021)
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mace"
Cyberverse Scout Class Megatron is a Scout scale toy that transforms from a robot to a robot sitting down a "transformational" mode in six easy steps. His Action Attack gimmick causes an Energon mace to pop out of his right arm when triggered.
Prototype photos depict him having a silver painted body which are not featured in the final product.
Megatron has seen three releases: First in 2018 in the original Cyberverse packaging design, then again in 2020 in the then-current Bumblebee: Cyberverse Adventures subline imprint packaging refresh and then again in 2021 in line's final Dinobots Unite subline imprint packaging refresh. Another release in the line's second Power of the Spark packaging style was also intended for late 2019/early 2020, but it appears the wave that version was supposed to ship in never made it to retail anywhere in the world.

1-Step Changers

(thumbnail)
Now THIS is a tank!
  • Megatron (1-Step Changer, 2018)
Released as part of the second wave of the Cyberverse One-Step changers, this Megatron shares a similar transformation scheme with the One-Step changer Megatron toy from the Age of Extinction toyline.

TF-Cyberverse-One-Step-Megatron-(New).jpg
  • Megatron (1-Step Changer, 2019)
    • Japanese Name: Turbo Change Megatron
    • Japanese Release Date: August 2019
    • Japanese ID Number: TCV-08
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mega Shot"
A second One-Step Changer mold for Megatron features an Action Attack which extends - but does not launch - a red blast effect from his cannon. His transformation consists of flipping his tank rear to the front to release his arms and chest. Inexplicably a large part of this mechanism on his underside is painted silver while the rest of the figure is flat grey plastic.
This version of Megatron was released twice: First in early 2019 in the original Cyberverse packaging design, and then again in late 2019 in the Power of the Spark subline imprint packaging refresh.

  • Megatron ("Cybertronian Mode" 1-Step Changer, 2020-2021)
(thumbnail)
Two fusion cannons... Look at yourself.
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mega Shot"
This Megatron shares a transformation scheme with the first Cyberverse One-Step Changer, now transforming into a Cybertronian tank as seen in the show's third season. This version includes a double fusion cannon for his tank mode which raises over his shoulders and into firing position in robot mode.
This version of Megatron was also released twice: First in 2020 under the Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures subline imprint, and then again in 2021 in line's final Dinobots Unite subline imprint packaging refresh.
This sculpt was redecoed into Megatron X.

Warrior Class

(thumbnail)
"The funnelweb spider can kill a man in eight seconds, just by lookin' at him!"
  • Megatron (Warrior Class, 2018)
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mace"
Cyberverse Warrior Class Megatron is a Deluxe-sized mold that transforms from tank to robot mode in 9 steps. Pulling the lever on his back raises his left arm while activating his "Fusion Mace" gimmick, which launches his flail attached to a short string, which must be retracted manually. Due to the simplified transformation, Megatron's arms end up sticking out from his tank mode, and his hips & thighs are visible at the front, making his crotch vulnerable in vehicle mode.
All known samples of this toy have misassembled legs (including the stock photo pictured here) which leave Megatron's thighs backwards. This results in a reduced range of motion in his knees, as in this state they bend further in the wrong direction. Ouch. This is most clearly visible when comparing this figure to the Cybertronian Mode retool below, which judging by the detail on the tops of his legs, fixes this issue. Sadly as his knees are held in with pins, disassembling Megatron's legs and swapping the thighs round is a prohibitive fix.
Care should be taken when transforming Megatron or activating his gimmick as this can eventually wear on his painted sections.
This toy was released in Nezha: Transformers packaging in Chinese markets.

(thumbnail)
Mmm, Scioli flavour.
  • Megatron (Cybertronian Mode) (Warrior Class, 2019)
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mace"
This Warrior Class Megatron is a redeco/retool of the figure above, featuring Cybertronian-based parts (mostly on the legs), and a double-barreled Fusion Cannon, which results in his vehicle mode resembling War for Cybertron Brawl's tank form. Deco-wise, his thighs, and the Action Attack switch are now molded in black plastic, and he features additional pink paint apps on his torso and arms.
As is the 2020 and onwards trend with Cyberverse toys, this item was first released at Hong Kong Toys"R"Us stores without any official announcement from Hasbro.

Ultimate Class

(thumbnail)
No wonder you have so many accidents around here, the steering wheel's on the wrong side of the tank!
  • Megatron (Ultimate Class, 2018/2019)
    • Japanese Name: Fusion Cannon Megatron
    • Japanese Release Date: July 2019
    • Japanese ID Number: TCV-07
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mega Shot"
Cyberverse Ultimate Class Megatron is a roughly Leader Class-sized toy that transforms from a heavily G1-inspired robot to tank in around eleven steps. He comes with a "Fusion Mega Shot" Action Attack gimmick,[2] which unfolds the cannon into an elongated pink barrel when the button to his left is pushed, reminiscent of a similar attack used by his live action counterpart. Additionally, he has an autotransforming head reveal activated when his waist is swung down, though his arms still need to be in turret mode for it to work correctly. Due to this feature, he has no neck swivel, despite the depiction in his stock render.
Megatron is unusual for his size in lacking elbows. Otherwise, he features ratcheted swivels and outward hinges in his hips, hinged knees, and shoulders with forward and lateral joints. Despite his Fusion Cannon being permanently attached to his arm, his right fist still has a covered-up hole for 5 mm pegs.
Unfortunately, some of the hips' ratcheting gear teeth have a tendency to snap off, which forces Megatron to lean forward, especially when he's in his Action Attack position.
This toy is one of the items that was released as part of Hasbro's Transformers 35th Anniversary promotional mailer box.[3]
Like his wave-mate Optimus Prime, this version of Megatron was also released twice: First in 2018 in the original Cyberverse packaging design, and then again in 2019 in the Power of the Spark subline imprint packaging refresh. He was also available in Nezha: Transformers packaging in Chinese markets.

Elite Class

(thumbnail)
Figure comes with corpse of Cyberverse Spinister.
  • Megatron (Elite Class, 2019)
    • Japanese Name: Battle Rotor Megatron
    • Japanese Release Date: October ???, 2019
    • Japanese ID Number: TCV-19
    • Spark Armor: Chopper Cut
Cyberverse Elite Class Megatron is a smaller, Warrior Class-sized, less Action Attack-laden mold with more articulation that transforms from robot to a tank that is evocative of his Warrior Class toy, complete with vulnerable robot mode crotch in tank mode. He comes with his signature Fusion Cannon and a "Chopper Cut" Spark Armor accessory that is modeled after an attack chopper that can form battle armor in robot mode. Like all Elite Class toys, the accessory also comes with a unique built-in helmet. When flipping down the piece with the alternate head while attaching the Spark Armor, a spring-loaded gimmick is activated causing the propeller to spin and two additional arms to flip out, one with a built-in mace and the other you can attach the included Fusion Cannon to. This configuration causes the original robot arms to dangle awkwardly at the sides, but this can be remedied by bending the arms at the elbows to a 45-degree angle and rotating the lower arms until the fists point straight towards the back, streamlining the look of the armored robot mode. Much like the later Deluxe Class figure below, Megatron himself has a removable Fusion Cannon.
In November 2019, Megatron was released as one of TakaraTomy Mall's Cyberverse "Christmas Set" offers along with Grimlock.

Deluxe Class

  • Megatron (Deluxe Class, 2019)
    • Build-a-Figure part: Maccadam's torso
    • Japanese Release Date: August 2020
    • Japanese ID Number: 02
    • Accessories: Fusion Cannon, 2-piece effect part, 2 missile pods.
    • Action Attack: "Fusion Mega Shot"
Released as part of the Cyberverse Deluxe Class lineup, this Megatron is a show-accurate mold that is more poseable than most of his previous releases. He also comes with a 2-piece effect part that is compatible with his Fusion Cannon and 2 missile pods that go on his turret sides and the sides of his legs.
Take note that it's not possible to fully transform him with the missile pods still attached to his side tank turret, though it's still possible if they're mounted on his legs.
Megatron suffers from a number of design flaws: Some of his joints are loose (notably the head), while the arms and legs are prone to popping off during transformation. Early prototypes of the figure, as well as some promotional renders, gave him a smug-looking smirk while the final figure has a more neutral expression.
In Japan, Megatron was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive. The catalog reveals that he was intended to be sold at regular retailt (hence the "TCV-29" ID Number) with a February 2020 release date. Like the rest of the Japanese releases of the Deluxe line, he comes in a windowless, monochrome box.

Battle Call

Cyberverse battle call megatron.jpg
  • Megatron (Battle Call Trooper, 2020)
    • Accessories: Fusion cannon, body armor, 2 scythes, blade weapon
Released as part of the Battle Call subline, Trooper Class Megatron is a roughly deluxe-sized figure that transforms into a Cybertronian tank. This toy's transformation scheme and engineering are based on Megatron's Deluxe class toy, but simplified to allow for his electronics. Unusual for a toy of this size, the tank mode does not feature any rolling wheels.
Like his sub-line's brethren, Megatron features a "Battle Call" voice-activated gimmick, wherein if you flip the on-switch on his shoulder and shout really loud at him (or just blow on his torso), the electronic light in his chest glows slightly brighter and sometimes flashes. His armor's helmet is molded to resemble Galvatron. He includes two blades that can fold down into scythes, and a green arm blade (with a gnarly skull molded into it) that can be mounted on 5 mm ports on his body . The scythe weapons can also be connected to the arm blade to form a larger weapon/ornament that attaches to his fusion cannon.

Roll & Combine

CV-toy RollCombine Megatron.jpg
  • Megatron / Dinobot Slug (Roll & Combine, 2021)
    • Accessories: Fusion cannon
Cyberverse Roll & Combine Megatron transforms from robot mode to tank mode in very few steps and features almost no articulation. His fusion cannon can be mounted on either arm or held in his fists. He automatically transforms into the upper half of Slugtron when combined with Slug.

Buzzworthy Bumblebee

Buzzworthy Megatron Chooper Cut.jpg
  • Megatron (Elite Class, 2021)
    • Series: Cyberverse
    • Spark Armor: Chopper Cut
Elite Class Megatron and Chopper Cut were re-released as part of the cross-Generations Buzzworthy Bumblebee subline, with no notable changes.

Buzzworthy warrior 4 pack.jpg
  • Optimus Prime / Bumblebee / Megatron / Starscream (Warrior Class 4-pack, 2021)
    • Series: Cyberverse
The Warrior Class Cybertronian mode Megatron was re-released without any changes for this 4-pack along with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Starscream.
The reused stock photos for the listing erroneously depicts Megatron in its original Warrior Class mold.

CV-toy Buzzworthy 1-Step Megatron.jpg
  • Megatron (1-Step Changer, 2022)

  • Megatron (Happy Meal Toy, 2019)
Released as part of the Happy Meal promotion for Cyberverse, Megatron is a 4-inch-tall non-transforming figure with articulation at the hips and arms. As an Action Master-esque play feature, he includes a small helicopter (reminiscent of his Elite Class toy, albeit in grey rather than purple) that can be separated from its propeller and reattached into various pins around his body as weapons or pieces of armor.

  • Megatron (Happy Meal Toy, 2021)
Released only in Singapore in January 2021, Megatron is a non-transforming figure with limited articulation. The chest of the figure has a panel with a lenticular image sticker on it which changes angle when the left arm is moved. Moving the panel causes the image on his chest to change.

Burger King

  • Megatron (Burger King Toy, 2019)
Oddly enough released just one month before the aforementioned Happy Meal toy, Burger King's take on Megatron is a non-transforming figure that also looks rather reminiscent to his Elite Class toy with the inclusion of some purple helicopter parts and a detachable propeller on his back. His hips and arms are articulated, making him the only one of the four Cyberverse Burger King figures with all three points of articulation being independently available.

Nezha: Transformers

Nezha-toy XiaomiBrickSet Megatron.jpg
  • Megatron (Building brick set, 2019)
    • Set number: QL1678
    • Pieces: 468
Released by Xiaomi as part of the Chinese-centric Nezha: Transformers toyline, this Megatron is a Lego-style building kit that can be assembled into either an approximately 10-inch tall poseable robot mode or a tank mode. Similar to how most Kre-O figures work, Megatron must be disassembled and reassembled in order to change from one mode to the next.

  • Megatron (Onebot set, 2020)
    • Set number: OBWZT01HZB
    • Pieces: 1600+
Onebot Megatron is a similar building kit to the one above and can also be assembled into either robot or tank mode, except it's now much larger and is based on the "Lego Technic" style of more complex pieces and builds. It was released as part of the MITU brand of building sets also made by Xiaomi. Building instructions are available on the official app for mobile devices and Windows. Robot mode requires 1616 parts assembled over 1453 steps, tank mode takes 969 parts and 714 steps.

  • Megatron (Blind-box building doll, 2021)
    • Set number: ???
    • Pieces: ???
This "blind-box building doll" Megatron uses the same style of construction as the Onebot set above, but is a much smaller kit resulting in a super-deformed robot mode that lacks a rebuildable vehicle mode.

Notes

Quidd-evergreen-Megatron-robot-mode.jpg
  • As with some of the Cyberverse cast, Megatron's design is based on the evergreen design (at right) also used for his Generation 1 counterpart, with some minor stylistic tweaks.
  • Megatron speaks with a peculiar accent, somewhere between Irish and American. Perhaps this is the Tarnian accent his IDW incarnation was known for?
  • Megatron's mace on the toys are pink, similar to the Generation 1 cartoon's purple. The actual cartoon coloration in Cyberverse, however, is red. This is similar to how on Optimus Prime's toys his axe is coloured orange, but in the cartoon is actually blue.
  • The Japanese dub gives Cyberverse Megatron a similar personality to the Japanese dub version of Beast Wars Megatron. Unsurprising, considering they're voiced by the same guy. This could be deliberate, as the Japanese dub of Optimus Prime is voiced by the Japanese dub actor of Optimus Primal.
  • An unproduced concept saw Megatron's left forearm open into a large blaster.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Megatron (メガトロン Megatoron)
  • Mandarin: Wēi Zhèn Tīan (China, 威震天, "Extremely Prestigious" or "Heaven-shaking Might")
