     Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland was born on 1 January 1808.¹ He was the son of Patrick Maitland and Anne Bateman.¹ He married Ann Deering Williams, daughter of Stephen Williams, on 29 August 1837.¹ He died on 3 August 1876 at age 68.¹
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Indian Army.¹

     Ann Deering Williams was the daughter of Stephen Williams.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland, son of Patrick Maitland and Anne Bateman, on 29 August 1837.¹ She died on 24 March 1887.¹
     Her married name became Maitland.

     Charlotte Sarah Sleigh was the daughter of Lt.-Col. B. W. A. Sleigh.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Frederick Henry Maitland, 13th Earl of Lauderdale, son of Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland and Ann Deering Williams, on 28 November 1864.¹ She died in September 1879.¹
     Her married name became Maitland.

     Lt.-Col. B. W. A. Sleigh gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 77th Regiment.¹

Frederick Henry Maitland, 13th Earl of Lauderdale and Charlotte Sarah Sleigh, on 16 April 1890 at St. Georges Hanover Square, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ She died on 30 January 1929.¹
     Her married name became Maitland. After her marriage, Gwendoline Lucy Vaughan-Williams was styled as Countess of Lauderdale on 1 September 1924.

     Robert Vaughan-Williams was born in 1822 at Bodfonda, Flintshire, Wales^G.² He was the son of William Williams and Elizabeth Ann Kyffin.^1,2 He died in 1878.²
