James Ian Morrison, 2nd Baron Margadale was born on 17 July 1930.1 He was the son of Major John Granville Morrison, 1st Baron Margadale and Hon. Margaret Esther Lucie Smith.1 He married Clare Barclay, daughter of Anthony Lister Barclay and Elizabeth Bryson, on 14 October 1952.1 He died on 6 April 2003 at age 72.2

Margaret Esther Lucie Smith, daughter of William Frederick Danvers Smith, 2nd Viscount Hambleden and Lady Esther Georgiana Caroline Gore, on 16 October 1928.2 He died on 26 May 1996 at age 89.1
