     Captain Alexander Gordon Russell was born on 11 July 1854.1 He was the son of General Lord Sir Alexander George Russell and Anne Emily Worsley-Holmes.1 He married Ella Maude Commerell, daughter of Admiral Sir John Edmund Commerell, V.C., on 22 October 1885.1 He died on 4 June 1917 at age 62.
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Rifle Brigade.1
