Edmund William Jerningham was born on 5 September 1805.2 He was the son of William Charles Jerningham and Anne Wright.2 He married Matilda Waterton, daughter of Christopher Waterton, on 25 June 1829.2 He died on 2 November 1860 at age 55.2
