Sir Fiennes Cecil Arthur Barrett-Lennard was born on 2 April 1880.1 He was the son of Captain Thomas George Barrett-Lennard and Edith Mackenzie.1 He married Winifrede Mignon Berlyn, daughter of Alfred Berlyn, on 18 September 1916.1 He died on 26 January 1963 at age 82.1
He fought in the Boer War, where he was wounded.1 He was educated at Bonn University, Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfahlen, GermanyG.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1905 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He fought in the First World War, in East Africa.1 He held the office of Judge of the Supreme Court, Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States.1 He held the office of Judge of the Appeal Court, Johore and Kedah between 1920 and 1925.1 He held the office of Chief Justice of Jamaica between 1925 and 1932.1 He was appointed Knight in 1926.1 He was a lecturer between 1932 and 1938 at Birkbeck College, London, EnglandG.1 He was a legal assistant in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries between 1942 and 1945.1
