     General Bernard Hale is the son of Sir Bernard Hale and Anne Thoresby.1 He married Martha Rigby, daughter of Richard Rigby, in 1750.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the Ordnance.1 He was Lieutenant-Governor in 1773 at Chelsea Hospita, Chelsea, London, EnglandG.1

Major Robert Bethune1

     Major Robert Bethune was born on 29 July 1827.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Alexander Bethune and Maria Low.1 He married Mary Louisa Hale, daughter of Captain William Amherst Hale, on 24 January 1865.1 He died on 27 July 1904 at age 76.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the 92nd Highlanders.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fife.1 He lived at Nydie, Fife, Scotland.1
