     He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 1839.1 He was founder of the Camden Society.1 He wrote the book Historical Memoirs of the House of Vernon, published 1855.1

     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwick.1 He was a practising barrister.1
