     William Mayne, 1st Baron Newhaven was born in 1722.2 He was the son of William Mayne and Helen Galbraith.2,3 He married Hon. Frances Allen, daughter of Joshua Allen, 2nd Viscount Allen and Margaret du Pass.1 He died in May 1794.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Carysfort [Ireland] between 1761 and 1776.2 He was created 1st Baronet Mayne, of Marston Mortaine, co. Bedford [Great Britain] in 1763.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Canterbury between 1774 and 1780.2 He was created 1st Baron Newhaven, of Carrick Mayne, co. Dublin [Ireland] in 1776.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1776.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gatton between 1780 and 1790.2 On his death, his titles became extinct.2
