     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Scots Greys.¹

     Major Edwin Sandys Dawes was the son of Sir Edwyn Sandys Dawes and Lucy Emily Bagnall.¹ He married Kathleen Emilie Maclaine, daughter of Murdoch Gillean Maclaine, 23rd of Lochbuie and Katherine Marian Schwabe, on 9 July 1920.¹ He died in 1943.¹
