Captain James Alexander Hans Hamilton was born on 28 April 1921.1 He was the son of George Cecil Hans Hamilton and Eva Marjorie Hornby.2 He married Patricia Adelaide Lawes, daughter of Guy Lawes, on 20 December 1941.1 He died in September 2002 at age 81 at Isle of Wight, England.3
He was educated at Nautical College, Pangbourne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was educated at Royal Navy Engineering College, Keyham, England.1 He was Naval Advisor to the British High Commissionen, Delhi.1 He was Director, Naval Manning & Training Minister of Defence.1 He was appointed Member, Institution of Marine Engineers (M.I.Mar.E.) in 1964.1 He was appointed Fellow, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (F.I.Mech.E.) in 1964.1 He retired from the military in 1973, with the rank of Captain, late of the Royal Navy.1 He lived in 1976 at Oriele House, Satchell Lane, Hamble, Hampshire, England.1 He was Director of Rank Marine Internationale.1
