Brig.-Gen. Sir Adolphus Oughton, 1st Bt. was the son of Adolphus Oughton and Mary Samwell. He married Elizabeth Baber, daughter of John Baber and Mary Draper.2 He married Frances Wagstaffe, daughter of Sir Thomas Wagstaffe and Frances Samwell, after 1712.1 He died on 4 September 1736.3
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was Groom of the Bedchamber to Prince of Wales between 1714 and 1717.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Coventry between 1715 and 1736.3 He was created 1st Baronet Oughton [Great Britain] on 27 August 1718.
