     He was educated at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut, U.S.A.1 He was a builder.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Carlton, of Carlton, West Riding, co. Yorks [U.K., 1876] in June 1987.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Wharncliffe of Wortley, co. York [U.K., 1826] in June 1987.2 He succeeded as the 5th Earl of Wharncliffe, West Riding, co. Yorks [U.K., 1876] in June 1987.2

     Lady Ann Lavinia Maud Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie was born on 25 January 1919.2 She was the daughter of Archibald Ralph Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 3rd Earl of Wharncliffe and Lady Maud Lillian Elfreda Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam.1,2 She married Commander Vivian Russell Salvin Bowlby, son of Colonel Robert Russell Bowlby and Violet Campbell, on 26 September 1939.1 She died in 2022.3
     She was with the MTC during the Second World War.2 Her married name became Bowlby. She lived in 2003 at Sutton Stables, Felixkirk Road, Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, Yorkshire, England.2

     Her married name became Ricardo. She was with the WLA and Remount Depot, Melton Mowbray during the Second World War.1

     David Cecil Ricardo is the son of Major Louis Ferdinand Ricardo.1 He married Lady Barbara Maureen Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, daughter of Archibald Ralph Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 3rd Earl of Wharncliffe and Lady Maud Lillian Elfreda Mary Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, on 23 June 1943.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars.1
