     Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. was born on 11 July 1843.1 He was the son of Richard Tew Smith and Emily Vassar.2 He married Mary Partridge, daughter of John Partridge, on 30 August 1866.1 He died on 2 August 1922 at age 79.1
     He was given the name of Richard Smith at birth.1 In 1883 his name was legally changed to Richard Vassar-Smith by Royal Licence.1 He was director of London and Rio Plate Bank, P&O For Banking Corporation and Yorkshire Penny Bank.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire.1 He was chairman of Lloyds Bank and Nat Provincial For Bank.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Gloucestershire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Bristol.1 He was created 1st Baronet Vassar-Smith, of Charlton Park, Charlton Kings, co. Gloucester [U.K.] on 10 July 1917.1

     Sir John George Lawley Vassar-Smith, 2nd Bt. was born on 10 December 1868.1 He was the son of Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Partridge.2 He died on 2 May 1942 at age 73, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1890 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Vassar-Smith, of Charlton Park, Charlton Kings, co. Gloucester [U.K., 1917] on 2 August 1922.1

Charles Martin Vassar-Smith1

     Charles Martin Vassar-Smith was born on 5 June 1881.1 He was the son of Sir Richard Vassar-Smith, 1st Bt. and Mary Partridge.2 He married Gladys Emmeline Rathborne, daughter of Colonel William Hans Rathborne and Bella Grace MacNeale, on 29 December 1908.1 He died on 25 November 1920 at age 39.1
     He fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Major in the King's Shropshire Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1
