     Maj.-Gen. Sir Matthew Aylmer, 8th Lord Aylmer was born on 28 March 1842.1 He was the son of Sir Udolphus Aylmer, 7th Lord Aylmer and Mary Eliza Journeaux.1 He married Amy Gertrude Young, daughter of Hon. John Young, on 20 October 1875.1 He died on 11 June 1923 at age 81.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 7th Royal Fusiliers.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Canadian Army.2 He was Adjutant-General.2 He was Inspector-General.2 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Aylmer, Baron of Balrath, co. Meath [I., 1718] on 30 November 1901.1 He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Aylmer, of Balrath, co. Meath [I., 1662] on 30 November 1901.1

     Amy Gertrude Young was the daughter of Hon. John Young.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Sir Matthew Aylmer, 8th Lord Aylmer, son of Sir Udolphus Aylmer, 7th Lord Aylmer and Mary Eliza Journeaux, on 20 October 1875.1 She died on 14 September 1935.1
     From 20 October 1875, her married name became Aylmer.1 After her marriage, Amy Gertrude Young was styled as Baroness Aylmer on 30 November 1901.
