     He was educated at Glasgow Academy, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He was chairman of City Line.1 He lived at Glenmorag, Dunoon, Argyllshire, Scotland.1

     George Smith was born on 2 January 1871.1 He was the son of George Smith and Mary Workman.2 He married Kathleen Marion Workman, daughter of William Workman, on 14 April 1896.1 He died on 13 March 1915 at age 44, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders.1 He lived at Pittodrie, Scotland.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Aberdeenshire.1
